How do you make a freezer frost free?

Frost free means that the evaporator coil will not accumulate a thick layer of frost. It will not prevent frost from accumulating on the walls of the freezer. To slow down the amount of frost build up inside the freezer, do not keep the freezer door open for any longer than necessary. The freezer door seal may be defective. This would allow moisture in that would freeze on the inside walls. A heater with timed intervals to come on is one way for a frost free feature. But this will not work for frost build up on the inside walls of the freezer. It would only melt the frost and then it would refreeze again.

Frost freezer

On humid days, when you open the freezer door this moist air enters the freezer, then freezes to form frost. Try not to keep the freezer door open for very long. There is really nothing that can be done to prevent the frost. If the problem is much worst than in the past, check the seal around the door for any cracks or holes. If it is defective, replace it with a new seal.

Why would freezer produce frost?

All freezers produce frost. Some automatically "defrost" at intervals. Perhaps your freezer has stopped doing those?

Our Frigidaire frost frost free upright freezer from day one has frost build up on the food inside the packages. The frost is not a problem in the freezer itself, but on the food. Freezer burn occur

Hi Dale Dibb, thank you for your inquiry!

I understand that the food inside of your Frigidaire freezer is getting frost on the inside of the packages. I would recommend turning the temperature up inside of your freezer. Additionally moisture inside of the package would cause frost to develop on the inside of the food packages.

Please assure that all possible moisture has been removed out of the food packages prior to placing the items inside of the freezer. If there is anything else that I can help you with, please feel free to reconnect! -Matt

Frost builts up in the coils

Frost will normally build up if you do not have frost free freezer and in which case it is possible the frost free system is faulty. If it is not frost free then it has to be defrosted a few times in a month. However if the frost comes up very quickly then there are possible causes.
You may be having leakage from the door seals or there are items in the freezer that are not properly covered to avoid moisture escaping. Other possibility is that your freezer is set too cold and there are not many items in it.

Items in freezer are gathering significant front, when the freezer should be frost free

A frost free freezer typically relies on a "fan" to vent that area of moisture. So, if the fan/vent is not working properly, the moisture in the freezer stays and become frost. Frost can also form if / when the freezer door is not closing properly / completely ... allowing air / moisture to enter the fridge/freezer . Have those checked out first.

Doors won't stay closed!

Frost in the rear of freezer possibly caused by door staying open.  Door staying open possibly caused by frost buildup on ref door track.  Start by making sure the teeth on the freezer track are clear of ice and frost.  This should allow you to shut the freezer door.  Next check the freezer seal.  If it is not completely sealed it it will build up frost. It is also possible that the frost in the rear of the freezer is from a failure in the defrost cycle as the evap coils are at the back of the freezer. If this is the case your refrigerator is probably getting warmer.

Frost in the freezer

IS IT ICE OR FROST? IF IT IS ICE, THE DOOR MAY HAVE BEEN LEFT CRACKED OPEN.
IF IT IS FROST, IS THIS A FROST FREE FREEZER?
IF YES, IS THE FROST ON THE BACK WALL?
IF YES, THERE IS A DEFROST FAILURE AND YOU WILL NEED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE DEFROST CIRCUIT.
IF THE FROST IS ON THE FOOD OR AROUND THE DOOR OPENING, A SEAL LEAK HAS ALLOWED WARM MOIST AIR INTO THE FREEZER AND CREATED THE FROST. CHECK THE DOOR SEAL FOR A GAP WHEN CLOSED.
