SOURCE: Need to replace 11L tweeter

Your speaker is designed as a sealed system. This means that along with the screws to hold down the tweeter, there is a putty seal. This acts more like glue over time. You will need to carefully pry the tweet out of the hole. You may find it easier to pry off the woofer first, then reach inside the cabinet to push out the tweeter.

Keep us posted on your progress.

My Bose l1 tweeter cuts out. any suggestions?

you are most likely turning it up too high so it cuts out to protect the speaker. Get bigger speakers.

If all speakers except some of the super tweeters in my gem sound tr-150 cabinet aren't working, could it be the crossover network that they appear to be all wired to, is no good, or do you think all...

Did you actually mean "all speakers... AREN'T working" except some tweeters? Crossovers don't protect the woofers. If crossover die all speakers they protect go silent due to loss of signal. Excess volume or distortion kills speakers and not always linearly.

If you said it wrong and some tweeters work, I'd suspect the latter above...

You (or we) could guess or you could take out one tweeter at a time and swap it with a (presumed) working one or just emasure it for dead short or open with an ohmmeter. If the tweeters check out and work elsewhere the problem would likely be within the cabinet.

Both tweeters on one of my Bose 301V speakers have stopped working. Is it possible that they failed together or is it likely to be a crossover problem?

Since there is no single crossover for two speakers it is likely both speakers experienced the same audio trauma and blew together. Something like microphone feedback will take thenm out in a literal heartbeat.

The 301's sometimes have an element in series with the tweeters that looks like a little light bulb (or it could be a fuse, too) and it is designed to blow before the tweeters die. They're easy to find if you remove the woofer to get some maneuvering space inside. If they'rethere and blown (visible) you can either wire aroundthem and be careful in the future or get some more.

Do a web search for "tweeter protection fuse".

If the tweeters did take the hit get on eBay and find some more, plus think about installing protectors if you can't avoid excessive distortion or power going to them.

Regarding pwoer vs distortion, the latter will kill tweeters in a blink so don't think a modest amp is safer than a powerful one. The modest amp will distort sooner.

Subwoofer makes high pitch whistle when turned on. Blown tweeter?

Subwoofers don't have tweeters and NO speaker makes spontaneous sounds unless it's mechanically breaking apart - then it dies and is silent.

I'd look for an electronic component that's blown. No one online can do that part for you.

Then you can say, 'oh, I see (something blown)' and spend time and money obtaining and replacing the low-hanging visible fruit only to find that the ROOT cause is not visible and you still have a problem.

OR let a hands-on tech take a look at it.

Re: Quad 11L tweeter replacement

Given the relatively small cost of the repair, I'd have the servicer do it. That way if anything happens, he/she is respionsible for it. When I repair this type of speaker, I usually use an old chisel. It is sharp enough to get under the edge and strong enough to pry up the speaker. Just be careful not to nick the cabinet.

Need to replace 11L tweeter

the best solution I've found is this:
1. Remove all the tweeter screws.
2. Take a thing metal rod (a coat hanger should work) and lightly tap the tweeter through the top port in the rear until it is loosened and comes out. The tweeter is totally sealed so you probably won't damage it if you need to do this to a working tweeter.

This method also works for the woofer but you need to be very careful to tap the frame or magnet of the woofer and not the cone.

TweeTer Not working.

The only way I can think of to check is to disconnect the leads to the tweeter, then check resistance with an Ohm-meter...no reading means dead speaker.
