Question about Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer won't stay running

When I start the cycle, the dryer will run fine for exactly 10 minutes. I restart and it runs for exactly another 10 minutes and shuts off. You get the beep just like it is at the end of the cycle, but only runs 10 minutes. We just had a tech here and they replaced the thermister, but that did not fix the problem. It does not appear to be an overheating problem. Any ideas?

Usually when an electric dryer overheats it's because of a defective cycling thermostat or a clogged vent system. Clean any lint from the internal and external ductwork, and/or replace the cycling thermostat

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Dryer won't stay running. It will start, run 10-15 seconds, then shut off. I can restart it immediately but get the same results.

i would check the door switch. it may be worn just enough that the vibration of the dryer opens the circuit for just a moment. then check for other loose connections. the fact that you can restart immediately usually indicates a momentary break in the circuit. a temperature switch usually takes a short time to reset. while it's still running, try rattling various switches or smack the door to see if it shuts off. (just a couple of simple ideas to start with).
good luck....jay
