Hi

The issue can be with the monitor or can also be due to an issue with your PC. You'll need to check for any disconnections from your monitor to pc. Make sure that the connector to the monitor is fine and all the pins are intact. If the above things are fine then it is an issue with the PC's Video card. To be sure you can try connecting a laptop/another monitor with the desktop to confirm if its an issue with the Video Card or monitor.

Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.

Thank you so much, I plugged in my friends laptop and my monitor instantly came to life so it must be the video card. Now if I only knew how to put one of those in. i know where I can buy one but is it difficult to repair, I would like to do it on my own because I am laid off currently and cannot afford to pay someone to do it for me. Thanks for your help!

If you would start the Dell in safe mode, you should be able to adjust the display settings to values that will work with the monitor. Or remove the monitor in the device manager and let windoze detect and configure the monitor on the next boot.

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.

Monitor display is pinched at the corner

Check if the same thing happens under safe mode.

Safe Mode
Continue to press the F8 key when Windows starts to load
Or hold down the CTRL key
From the menu, select Safe Mode
Same thing? Then I have bad news for you. You need a new monitor. Best to verify for sure on another computer though.

Starting up

If you haven't fixed this problem yet; try to start the system in Safe Mode by tapping on F8 when it's booting up. When asked to start in safe mode or normal, select Safe Mode.

Your graphics are going to be bad when you do that, but if that works let me know. then you'll have to go and change some settings

Dell LCD monitor quickly goes sleep, on, off over and over

I would recommend that you try it on another computer to see if you are able to reproduce the results. If that is the case you should look at any new drivers, software or updates that have been installed. If the issue continues with another PC, it sounds as though the monitor's power supply is possibly failing. in that case I would suggest you simply replace the whole monitor. Unless you are not shy with a soldering iron. ;) good luck!

Using windows xp with regular updates for 4 years no problem. today will not start. tried F8 to safe start and none of the options work screen goes blank

HI,

The last thing you can try is hit F8 again and select "LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION"
If you still face the problem then you will have to install your Xp again.

Second monitor no longer detected by NVIDIA GeForce 7950GT / on Vista

A quick question, Are your monitors using a DVI output from your graphics card?

When was the last time you remember them both working, and what display driver was you using?

have you tried swapping both vga/dvi cables round and booting in safe mode?

see if that helps..
