Question about Samsung ( MP0603H) 60 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

My Dell Inspiron 6000 has Samsung Model MP0603H hard drive. The computer was working fine till this morning when it would not boot. I ran diagnostic using the Dell CD and the results stated: Error Code OFOO:1328 and IDE Disk s/n S032J10YC59719 (which is my hard drive)... It failed the condidence test. The I ran the diagnostic of run "cannot boot the Operating System... Again error code OFOO:0128 and IDE device failed and Time out waiting for drive not busy.... Further testing showed it failed the Device Self Test, the Read Test, the Seek Test, the Smart Test, The Start Unit Command, The Stop Unit Command and the Verify Test. The error code typically was OFOO:0162 and OFOO:0428, and OFOO;0462, etc... Is this something that involves the hard drive only, meaning that I should be able to solve problem by self installing a new hard drive, or does the codes indicate there is more involved???

Those codes all apply to the hard drive itself..

Replacing the hard drive is all you should have to do.

Below is a link to a brand new hard drive that will work in your Inspiron 6000

Dell Inspiron 600 - trying to reload, but not

You might need to go into the computer's BIOS and see if it's set to boot from a bootable CD or USB device. If it's set to only boot from the hard drive, it won't even look at other drives. Different computers use different ways to access the BIOS: you might try pressing the F12 key when the boot logo appears. Check your owner's documentation - it should tell you the procedure for your computer.

My laptop is a dell 6000 and it says there are no bootable devices

your hard drive has failed, on boot (dell splash screen) press f12 to bring up boot menu, choose diagnostics option, run this and it should confirm hard drive failure on dst short test (drive self test) and give an error code (e.g 2000 - 0142), trust me on this i am a dell field service engineer

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that is not quite 4 years old. When I turn it on the scree shows the dell insignia, then the windows screen and then goes black. I don't know if the system is booting up or what...

Sounds like a definite no boot issue. Turn the system on to the diagnostics (Fn + Power) see if the diagnostics show a failure. If the hard drive passes diagnostics, then boot to the XP CD and try repairing the WIndows installtion

Dell Inspiron 1521 Error Code 2000-0146

It means "DST Log contains previous error(s)."
Dell Support says “If the diagnostic test reports one of the above errors, refer to Dell Troubleshooting Wizard: "Hard Drive Fails the Diagnostics" Wizard ID: 324398”

My computer will not load up

Likely a hard drive failure. With system off, hold the Fn Key and press the power button, this should launch diagnostics If the diags fail on the hard drive then you have a confirmed failure. If the diags don't run, then try booting to the resource CD to run them.

When running diagnostic for Dell computer was given error code OF00:1A44. I ran the diagnostic becasue I was unable to get past the blue screen in Windows - error there is Unmountable_boot_volume.

Boot to the XP CD, Enter recovery console by pressing "R" at the 1st prompt, run the command CHKDSK /P and see if the system will boot normally after the command finishes running. If nothing changes, then the hard drive will need replacement
