That usually means the cable itself is bad. I have seen that often, Mostly the firewire cable fails.

Error 010-333 for this machine is "Fuser Center Thermistor Overtemp (Over temperature) or Overheat Error"
Error 010-319 for this machine doesn't seem to exist (Yes - I know you've got it - hence the problem post.)
Error 010-319 for other Workstation models (7655, 7665, 7675, 7755, 7765, 7775) is "Fuser Heat Control problem *NOTE: This code must be cleared from Diagnostic Mode"

Recently, when I insert a USB flash drive into my laptop's USB port, I get the message: This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a HI-SPEED USB 2.0 port.

Your laptop has USB1 port and the USB 2 message will appear if you plug an USB 2 device into this USB port.
You maybe able to upgrade the USB port to USB 2 if there is a BIOS upgrade available from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site.
If not you maybe able to get an USB 2 PCMCIA card to install into the PCMCAI slot on your laptop.

Xerox workcenter 7665 communication problem

This was an issue with earlier models and is usually attributed to the "USB" connector on the bottom of the control panel not being attched securely. Note: although the connector is USB, it is NOT hot swappable and will crash the machine if unplugged while the power is on.

Power off the machine. Ensure the cable is securely attached and restart the 7665. Make sure when you turn it off that it is completely off before restarting or you could corrupt the system software.

Usb drive

If you go into Device Manager (through Control Panel), see if there are any yellow ! next to the usb controllers. If so, you will need to reinstall the drivers for the USB. Those drivers will be on your HP disk. If you don't have a disk, the drivers are universal and will be installed by Windows. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling ALL USB controllers and hosts and reboot your machine. Once it boots back up, you will be prompted with the Found New Hardware wizard which will want to install the USB controllers and hosts. That SHOULD solve your problem.

Note When you disable the USB 2.0-enhanced host controller, you lose USB 2.0 functionality. That is, you revert to USB 1.1 functionality.

To disable the USB 2.0-enhanced host controller, follow these steps: 1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage. 2. Under Computer Management (Local), click Device Manager. 3. In the Device Manager pane, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. 4. Right-click the USB 2.0-enhanced host controller, and then click Disable.
