Question about Computers & Internet

HP Pavillion dv900 no longer has visual--Daughter's computer--I can hear the hard drive kick in, but no visual whatsoever. Cna I use a separate monitor for the visual? Someone told me the HD is "fried". I can buy a replacement reasonably on eBay. Is it hard to exchange for broken one?

I wouldnt think the hard drive is bad. Even without a hard drive you should have something on the screen.

What I would do, is look on the back of the computer. And there is a monitor port. Hook up an external monitor like for a desktop. To that port.

Then turn the computer off and on. If it picks up the monitor. Then you have an issue with the lcd screen.
If you dont see anything. Then it could be the motherboard or the graphics card has went out.

To back up my thoughts, read over the forum link below and see if it sounds similar.

Insert boot disc error on hp pavillion a622n

Boot disc error indicates that your computer is unable find any Operating system to boot up. Go to BIOS settings and figure out if your BIOS detects your hard drive. If so, format your hard drive and install an operating system.

I would love to hear from you in regards to this concern.

My HP Pavillion does not boot up. there is a blank screen with blinking cursor. When I press F2 it asks for a driver disc that I do not have.

Is it saying booting from disk?

Try to turn off your computer for about 5 mins. Once you turn on the computer, you will hear it beep. Just after the beep, press f8 and select your hard drive so that you can boot from it.

Hp pavillion dv6627 -- wouldn't start - got it to start - did a diagnostic -- said "replace hard drive" -- tech support at HP said hard drive will go down in 2 days ... is that true?

Hi,
You need to make status "Active" for atleast one partition and then you need to install on an OS what you like, it will be full working.

The messege did not show to down under or within 2 days or longer.

Good Luck

Do another scan for trojans, spyware and malware using another scanner.
Things like Adaware can find things an anti-virus scanner is not even looking for.
