Question about Sega Genesis Console
Wow i have not seen one of these since i was in teach school. in some cases its due to carbon build up on the copper pins at the base of the cartridges (games) using a cloth with window cleaning solution clean along the copper strip and re insert game. if this does not work then the internal strip inside the machine will need to be cleaned.

It means you first of all need to clean the games. Get out a Q-Tip, rub it inside the games along the copper strip. Dirt will come out. If this doesn't work, do that same method with a cleaner like Windex. Then rub a dry Q-Tip around to soak up the liquid. Let it dry for 20 minutes or so.
Still not working? Get out a pencil with a clean, never used eraser on the tip (The pink/red eraser on the tip) and rub it inside the game. Then get all the shavings out with a Q-Tip. That method breaks the electro-static cling from when the games are being read by the system.
If it's still not working, it's either the system or the AC cord. Lots of people have the AC cord problem, and it has to be turned juuust right. Same with the video cord (That plugs into the VCR or TV.) I just went out and got a new one of both, cleaned the games, and it was working great again.
