Welcome to FixYa.

The heating element can be had at most local brick & mortar appliance parts vendor`s or on-line if you prefer at places such as "" "" or "" to name a few.

The part number should be 279838, but I`d suggest double checking at the place of purchase with your model number.

**Make sure you unplug the unit from the wall or turn off the 30amp breaker before servicing the first**

It should resemble the image below...

It sounds like you need to replace the burner receptacle, in either the broiler or the bottom oven burner( heating element) or both. When it exploded it burned the contacts in the heating element.

Oven won't heat, all burners work

I suggest that you remove the upper and lower heating elements to the oven, turn the oven switch to on, then use a good digital voltmeter, and check the plug that the lower heating element was in. If you have good (200 volts or more) then purchase and install new heating elements. Turn the oven switch to Broil setting and check the same way for the top heating element.

Oven won't heat

The heating element may be worn out or loose. Are both the broil (upper) and bake (lower elements) failing to heat? If so, you will probably need to call a professional. If only one of the elements is failing to heat, it will need to be replaced. This is usually a simple matter of tugging firmly on the element and it will slip out of its housing. Once you purchase a replacement element you just plug in back into the housing. You can buy the elements at appliance parts stores. I would suggest calling an appliance parts store and asking them IF you can remove the element yourself. If they know they're about to make a sale, they don't mind giving you the information.

I have a Bosch WTL5410 dryer, which has no heat going to the otherwise functioning tumbler. Do you know where I could purchase another heating element and where I can get instructions regarding the...

Open front panel, remove heat exchanger and clean.
Unplug the dryer. remove the panel in the back of the dryer that covers the heating element. ( the inner panel). On top of the heating element you will see a thermal sensor with a small red button on it. Thats the manual reset button To test if the heating element is working properly you can disconnect the wires from the sensor and clip the connectors together . Plug the dryer back in and start it. pay attention to the heating element. It should begin to glow shortly. if it doesn't then your heating element is bad and needs to be replaced.

Unplug the dryer. Connect the wires back to the thermal sensor. Plug the dryer back in. Before you start the dryer, press the red button on the switch. This is your reset button. Start the dryer. If the heating element doesn't come on and dryer doesn't heat, then you need to replace that sensor.

No heat

Check the resistance of the heating element (8 to 14 ohms). If ok, then check continuity of the overload devices attached to the heat element duct. If either one or both are open then replace ($14 for both). Dryer should heat.

If heat element is faulty, the part can be purchased at Sears/Kenmore Parts Center and swapped out ($45.00).

Provide your dryer model number and ask for the needed parts.

Unplug your dryer first before attempting any service work. Safety first and always!
