I whole-heartedly agree with you 'rodale'! For the amount of money investment and working time of this unit its a disgrace to the electronics business. RCA should be able to fix it for free within a reasonable time or replace the unit entirely. If they can fix it, then they obviously know what the problem is (or maybe not considering yours quit on you after they so-called fixed it). I feel that RCA should acknowledge the problem(s) with this unit and recall all of them from the stores, especially Walmart which is where most saving-conscience people shop. A deal is only a deal if the product lives up to the standards of the manufacturer.

Mine does the same thing. I found that if I plug an ipod or another unit into the USB port in the front and send input signal that way it seems to jump start it but I then still have to tap the on button or push many of the input selection buttons then it will work. No my problem is the unit "faulting" itself off after 15 minutes. I have removed most of the speaker wires and it may seem to work with less speakers or there is a problem with a one of the speakers causing the fault to occur.

My RCA RT2770 has two problems. 1: The volume lowers itself. 2: Surrond sound is echoeing.

You wanna try changing the mode of sound. And for the volume, try contacting RCA to figure that out. Could be interfeiring remote signals. Also, you can post a question, just like this, on their support website. Click Here for that website.

RT2770 cuts out above a volume setting of 30.

Bass and other settings may be set too high and are overdriving the unit.

If all else fails try the old unplug it for a while and then plug back to see if that helps.

What if anything else is hooked up at the same time to this system?

Connecting RCA RT2770 to PC

Yes. Take the output from the sound card and connect it to one of the tape inputs. Note: you should use the "line out" jack for this.

Auxilary RCA inputs have no volume control

Your problem stems from the fact that the CDA-7892 is not equipped with an RCA aux-input jack. If you're plugged into RCA connectors at the back of the head unit, they're outputs, not inputs. The sound you hear is just feeding back through the outputs and into the head unit's amplifier. If you want to play your iPod through this head unit, you need to purchase either the auxiliary input adapter (KCA-121B) or iPod adapter (KCA-420i).
