Question about Linksys Wireless-N WRT150N Router

1 Answer

WRT300N V1 no longer receives IP address from ISP.

Up until today, I have not had any problems with my router, if ever my internet was not working then I could blame my ISP. My ISP is functioning correctly, with my computer connected directly to modem, I have internet access. When I connect my N router back into the network, my problem persists. I have checked my configuration, and nothing has been changed. I checked the status page, and that's where I noticed the problem. The router is not obtaining an IP from my ISP. I left all as is and plugged directly to modem, no power reset done, and I was able to connect. Reconnected the router, and still does not get IP. I restored to default settings as well as used the reset button with no resolve. I have a feeling that my router has gone bad, but I wanted to get an experts opinion, please advise.

Ours linksys150N worked well for about a month then for the past month it has consistently dropped connections and slowed so much we are always unplugging router and restarting computer, works for an hour or so and then dies again. We blamed our new ISP and called them so often they gave up and sent out a service tech, who confirmed it was the router, not the signal. Linksys was no help.

Try to check the IP your getting from the modem. If its 192.168.1.x then change the IP of the Linksys router to 192.168.2.x...have you tried upgrading the firmware of the router? This might help as well. One more thing try setting ther MAC clone ferature of the router.

Belkin 54G won't connect to the internet

Are you sure your modem is giving a WAN IP from your ISP? Try power-cycling your modem with your router unplugged then bring up your router next, if you havent tried that already... After that try connecting your modem directly to a PC and set your NIC card to DHCP and see if you get an IP address thats routable to the internet (i.e not a private IP)

WRT300N dosnt connect

if your connection (isp) is CABLE you will need to clone the mac of the main computer.

For cable connection verify what computer can go online with your modem, once you know the main pc connect it to port one, access the routers setup page by typing 192.169.1.1 then locate MAC ADDRESS CLONE in line with basic setup. enable it click the macclone button then save settings.
connect your modem to the internet port on the router, do a power cycle on the modem and router.
then check the status tab on the linksys setup page if you have numbers on the dns it should be online.

IP address

Hi tammyhope,
I would guess that your ISP is providing a dynamic IP address for connectivity to the internet. If your router is changing the IP address back to default, I would think that your configuration is not setup properly, to receive a dynamic address, but is set with a static address instead. So what happens is that when you attempt to connect to your ISP your router is resetting. If this is the case then you need to go into the router configuration and set it to recieve a dynamic address from your ISP.

Need the driver for Linksys WRT300N V1 ... can't find the CD

Hi,

The LINKSYS WRT300N is a standalone device, there are no software/driver needed on your PC for the router to work. However, there is an easy Setup Wizard that is in the CD that normally comes with the unit.

Unfortunately, Linksys did not make the specific Setup Wizard (Version 1.3) for the WRT300N available online. However, if you care to try the Setup Wizard for a WRT54GC, it may downloaded from the LINKSYS ftp site here. I used to have a WRT54G and I did make use of the Setup Wizard for that model. I upgraded to WRT300N. The setup wizard for the old WRT54G worked likewise on the new WRT300N.

Alternately, the WRT300N can still be configured without the CD or the Setup Wizard by logging into the Configuration Page (192.168.1.1). Remember to use LAN interface when setting the router (as shown in the connection diagram) and set your PC to an IP Address of 192.168.1.2, Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0; Follow on screen instructions and enter settings/configurations manually.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information. Additionally, if you still prefer to have a copy of the original WRT300N Setup Wizard, pls include your email address that I may send it to you as an attachment.

Good luck and kind regards.

Laptop can not connect to router

Hi,

If you care to try, manually enter IP settings in your laptop as follows:
IP Address - 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway - 192.168.1.1
DNS - whatever your ISP is using

In your Internet Explorer >
Tools, Internet Options, Connections tab, LAN settings button, check "Automatically detect settings", OK, Advance tab, check Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
