Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a Dell Studio 14z,purchased August 2009, in which the laptop continually crashes. After scanning and re-booting a blue warning screen will appear stating to protect the computer it will shut down. You can maneuver around the computer, but it crashes soon thereafter. The "services(local)" tab, located under the administrative menu, reveals that most of the services statuses is no longer "started". Repeated and updated Norton internet security 2009 and AVG 9.0 scans did not correct the problem.

This sounds like one or more of your Windows critical files have become corrupt.

The first thing you should try is restoring your computer to your last restore point. Essentially this means restoring the operating system files to a previous point in time where the corruption does not exist. This will not affect any of your data or programs however if you have anything on there that is not backed up and it's very important to you I would recommend you back the files to a USB memory stick or similar.

Once you have done the try the steps outlined below, if this does not resolve your issue reply to this post and we can try something else-

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Turn the computer on and immediately press F8 repeatedly until you get the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
3. use the down arrow to select "Safe Mode" and press enter.
4. Window is should start with a "Help" window.
5. In the help window there is an underlined "What is System Restore?"
Click on that and "Click to open System Restore"
6. click on that and a new window comes up recommending restoring to a previous state.
7. Click ok and the operating system should restore your computer successfully and reboot into normal mode.

Widi crashes on start, can someone help?

If your system is running a Windows operating system, you should remove the WiFi manager that dell supplies. The Windows one is the most effective and efficient. When you have more that one system trying to do the same job you will always have a chance of conflict. If you are getting a "Blue Screen" when your system crashes then you should remove anything you have fitted since it was working properly. This type of system crash is usually caused by a hardware problem-either physical or driver based. To eliminate the drivers from the equation you should try and run your computer in "Safe Mode". this allows the system to run without external drivers.

When I power on my laptop instead of saying resuming windows it says hibernating

If you have the recovery disk of your laptop.First boot cd/dvd rom drive and load the recovery software and follow on the screen instructions. That will restore your computer factory settings but be careful and not to forget to back up or save your data or files before recovering your system.

If you can resume or turn back to windows desktop, try updating your windows or downloading updates from Microsoft to fix some bugs or errors.

Please tell me how download the the bluetooth driver of dell studio 1450

Did you get a driver set up disk when you bought the laptop? It should have a drivers disk that has the driver for your bluetooth if not go to dell web site and you can download it.

Dell Studio laptop purchased in November 2009, when I push the on/off button nothing happens, the backlight is on, but it does not boot up, what could be causing this?

It could be a faulty motherboard (usually a problem with the onboard graphic adapter caused by overheating) or bad memory (RAM) module(s). It can also be a problem with the monitor itself, but that's rare. To eliminate the latter, try connecting another monitor to the laptop's VGA connection to see if you see something. If it shows the same - it's not the laptop's monitor fault!

Good luck,

Studio 1537 upgrade from P8400 to T9400 problem!

First of all go to and click drivers and download. make sure you update al your driver especially video,
chipset and system software.
I've gotten this before and it might be memory issue with video when you start your system start tapping F12 and select the boot to Utility Partition or system test and and choose the extended test. google the error codes if any . I usually get this due to a video driver.

Dell Studio17 simply will not start up properly.

If you have a dell diagnostics utility CD, then boot it from CD and scan for hardware errors. If it detect anything, ask dell to replace it.
