Question about V-Twin Horizontal OHV Engine with Electric Start - 610cc, GX Series

I have a small Honda 20.0 v-twin engine that is on my firewood process that has begun to be very hard to start. any suggestions as how to fix this?

my guess would be a carburetor adjustment as it sounds like it is burning to rich. if there are no set screws i would replace the needle and seat.

Rebuilding a honda 670 v twin no timing mark on crank gear only cam!how can I time without that crank mark?


I am assuming your working a GX670 twin cylinder small engine.
There should be small dimple on the crankshaft gear. It is 180 degree from the keyway. Note the gear maybe on backwards.

Nospark 250 side by side twin wont even turn over since i put starter relay back on it is honda rebel clone engine 3rd generation


well if the engine won't even turn over, than not having spark isn't a problem yet. Check the battery for voltage. The switch for clean contacts, and bypass the solenoid by hand to see if it is the solenoid or the starter motor that is broken. Might be hard to do by what I've written here, but it is a simple process really.

I keep popping 25 amp fuse when trying to start honda GX610 18 hp gas engine on 3100 Stone Wolf pac roller


if the fuse pops when turning to crank position the problem lies within the small solenoid wire to the starter (this wire goes from the ign.switch to the starter solenoid and is powered up when in the start position) this wire is shorted to ground....or the starter solenoid is shorted....best way to tell is unhook wire from solenoid and turn key to start...if the fuse does not pop its the solenoid....do this several times to verify

Who told you to replace the entire engine??? -An engine salesman? You should take advice with caution especially if the advisor stands to benefit. To fix overheating, try putting in a new thermostat. The new thermostat and gasket should cost you less than 20 bucks. Make sure your cooling fans cut on when the engine is warmed up. If not, then check the fuses and relays to the fans. Double check your coolant level. Your oil consumption is perfectly normal.
