SOURCE: I have a Hayward Northstar

wow, thats odd. If you replaced every seal/o-ring and its still leaking its gotta be 1 of 2 things

You installed the shaft seal wrong- no disrespect, just a possibility

or there is a hairline crack somewhere you are missing...

Testimonial: "The shaft seal ould be a possibility but I think I'm OK there. However, I did check the pump again today and there was NO LEAK. Thanks anyway"

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

There is no polarity associated with the leads in an AC system. You simply have 2 hot wires and you can hook either one to either Line 1 or Line 2. Motor rotation is not dictated by the connection arrangement of these leads. Ground the motor with the grounding wire and again with the bond wire if one is present.

You can remove the riser that is positioned under the motor to allow for a 56 size stator to fit in place of the 48 size stator the original Hayward (AOSmith) motor was.

SOURCE: where can i order the impeller (center dish cover)

The impellers for the motor depends on the actual brand of pump that the motor is actually bolted up to. Impellers are available anywhere and once you can let us know what the actual model of the pump (should be a Hayward, Jandy, or it may be an off brand) we can not only provide you with the part number, but also a location where to purchase. What is probably happening is that you are searching for the impeller for an emerson, instead of looking for the imepller for the appropriate pump.

Electric motor runs but pump does not run, Model 05-001

It sounds like either a suction leak or an impeller problem. Remove the lid from over the pump basket and fill the pot with water. Leave the lid off and start the pump. The water should be sucked into the pump almost instantly.

If it did, you probably have a suction leak. Check out the lid o-ring.

If the water didn't move your impeller is clogged or has stripped out. The pump needs to opened to see what happened.

My Emerson motor model k63cxese 4792. It is making a loud noise. I was told the capacitor might be bad. Does anyone know how to replace the capacitor? Thank you

Capacitors don't make noise. The purpose of a capacitor, is to provide a jumpstart to assist the motor to begin spinning. What makes a pool motor noisy, is bad bearings. At one point or another is possible that your mechanical pump shaft seal had failed, and allow the water to enter the electric motor, and wash away the lubrication in the front bearing.

either replace the bearings or the motor.

Replace usq1202 pump

It looks like since you have a square flange motor you have either a Tri-Star, a Maxflo II pump or other model by Hayward.. Either way the process is very similar.
Replace the seal, o-rings and gaskets with new ones. Use a teflon based lubricant on all rubber parts, including the seal, but try not to get any on the ceramic (white ring).
  1. Shut power off at the breaker.
  2. Remove the bolts connecting the motor plate to the pump housing.
  3. Back motor assembly out of pump housing making sure that the diffuser and its gasket also come out.
  4. Disconnect the electrical supply.
  5. Remove the diffuser if still covering the impeller, (there may or may not be screws to remove).
  6. Remove impeller ring (if one).
  7. Holding the impeller firmly remove the impeller screw. This is in the center of the impeller and has a REVERSE THREAD, meaning turn screw clockwise to loosen.
  8. Remove the end cap on the opposite end of the motor and use a 9/16" open end wrench to hold the shaft from turning.
  9. Unscrew the impeller CCW.
  10. IMPORTANT -- Note how both parts of the seal are oriented to assure the new one is installed likewise, then pull off the seal and seal plate, and discard old seal parts. Also note which way is UP on the seal plate relative to the motor.
  11. Reassembly to the new motor is basically reversing the steps above.
NOTES:
The impeller ring (if one) is a ring with a lip around one side. This goes over the center of the installed impeller with the lip facing outward, away from the impeller.

Do not over tighten the bolts! You can damage the pump by doing this. Snug plus about a quarter turn is plenty. In the event you have leaking after startup, open the pump back up and check you housing gasket.

Moter leaks when filtering

Is it leaking at the motor shaft or where the filter gasket and pump housing bolt together? If between the two housings, then it may just be a matter of tightening the screws that hold them together. If it is leaking around the shaft, you will need to replace the mechanical shaft seal.
To replace the seal you will need to remove the housings and then unscrew the impeller from the shaft. There is a slotted end on the other end of the motor shaft for screwdriver. This will hold the shart still while you unscrew the impeller. The shaft seal is a precesion part so be careful when replacing it.
Let us know if this helps, Robert

Sounds like there is an impeller problem. A 1hp emerson should be fine. Take it apart and recheck impeller and diffuser. I am assuming they gave you a new seal to replace with the motor.

Leak off pump housing

Sidewinder, sounds like it's leaking from the pump gasket or the water seal assy on the impeller. Check the locking ring to the pump housing and see if you can increse the pressure to the tub. Also check the tightness of the motor fan assy. to the impeller assy. tighten if necessary. Pump gasket part number is 912529. Impeller seal part number is 903494. Catriver..post back.
