Question about HP Compaq nc8000 Notebook

1 Answer

Tries to start up, but switches off. power light stays on(orange, middle light), like normal when conected to power and switched off, then push the power button, the power light goes out, the disc light (Green, most right light) flashes 3 times, then the wireless light comes on(blue, most left light) and the fan starts up, and then the power (middle light) comes back on. The fan, wireless light and the power light stay on for a few seconds, then the fan and the wireless light go off, leaving just the middle power light on. This is all the laptop does, it wont start up and the screen doesnt flicker or anything, just stays black. Please, any info would be great, I have loads and loads of folio pics and pics of my work I need to recover Cheers Mat

My Ac Adapter i think is broken and my Xbox wont turn on but the AC adapter has a orange light that when i unplug it the orange light still does not go off.

Hi if the main brick has got an orange light then this is telling you the mains lead is working so try doing the following

1 unplug all leads from back of xbox and turn the power brick off at mains
2 plug the power lead back into the xbox, now when you push it in and it stops try pushing it in a little bit further usually they just dont push in far enough and it can be quite tight so make sure you are pushing it in hard enough,
3 now plug the video lead in and try switching it on,
keep an eye on the orange light whilst you switch it on if it comes on then it should continue to work if it dont come on watch the orange light and see it if changes color at the same time your switching it on, it will either flash green or red just once before going back to orange.

let me know what happens ok

My x-box won't turn on with everything plugged in

Hi check on the power brick that when you switch it on at the mains you get the orange light on the power brick, if you have this watch this light as you press the on button on the console if it turns red on the power brick then you have internal error on your xbox, if it stays orange then try taking out the power lead out of the back of the xbox 360 then push it back in sometimes if you dont get it pushed in far enough it wont work push it in as hard as you can then double check by pushing it back in then try pressing the on button.

if when you turn it on at mains you dont have any lights light up on the power brick then this could mean you either need to change the fuse in the plug or the power brick has over heated and needs replacing, if you do have an orange light on it then instead of pressing the on button on the xbox try pressing the dvd drive open button and see if that then switches it on.

let me know what light you get on the power brick and then ill do my best to assist you further.

most of the time its just because you dont push the power lead in the back of the xbox far enough, you can push it in thinking its in far enough when its not try pushing it in that little bit further and you should find it will come on.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

The dash and interior lights dont come on, I have no manual

There is a round knob to the left of the steering wheel. This is a light switch. If it's turned to the left, the lights stay off. In the middle, the lights come on when the door is opened or the key is removed. To the right, it will turn the lights on anytime. By default, it should be in the middle (automatic) position. At the center of this switch is another knob that will pop-out if you push it. By turning the knob that pops out, it will change the intensity of your dash lights. Try popping the knob out and turning it all the way to the right. Then push it back in so nobody messes with it. Then make sure the light switch stays in the middle position. Hope this helps.

When put power cable in orange light comes on power button and wont boot up

Sir,
Orange light usually comes only if your system stays in low power mode or sleeps, So u get orange light immediately when u switch on the system, try pressing the ESC Key on the top left corner of the Keyboard, and if not try pressing the power button again...

If not working, tell me Whether do u get any sounds in system?
Your system Operationg System?
And What u get on the screen, when u switch on?

Thanks, Regards

Start button not working standby light staying

The switch is for 'REC' 'Standby' and "PLAY".
If you leave it switched to "Play" and pull the plug and push it in to the wall receptacle (mains) it should start playing after a few seconds delay. The same for "REC". You use a timer unit on the power cord for those.
If you have the switch in the middle position and plugged-in, you should have a tiny Red LED illuminated. Push "Power" and it should start-up and be ready to use in a matter of a few seconds.

Seagate freeagent pro 500GB power on/off unsure

I believe it's normal as the Freeagent is responding to data on the input (eSata) cable. If you don't like the light always ON, hook it up first via USB to a Windows PC and set the light to "off" and the drive to spin down "never". If the drive loses power, you will have to do the procedure again. Otherwise, the light stays mostly constantly ON and make a nice companion to Tivo lights. ZT3000 "Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"
