Hi, your virus scan will not remove pop ups. Open your web browser and go to tools at the top of the screen and then options, here you can remove or block pop ups and cookies.

How can I get rid of pop-ups on chrome and Internet explorer--my mcafe security system is working

Hi,
Before jumping into a conclusion that your computer is infected, please check if you have programs like Strongvault, Wajam installed. They will give you popups.
If not use the following tool from McAfee to scan for suspicious files in the computer.

My computer keeps freezing and is operating very slowly. What can i do to remedy these 2 problems. Ocasionally i get strange pop ups from another site.

Hi. This could be virus issue on your computer. Computer wont receive pop ups from the time you boot up your computer unless you will go to internet explorer and go to a website that ha a pop up. try to run your anti virus first to check for possible virus intrusion.

Have a good one!

How do i turn back on spy sweeper and my micro trend internet security

In order to disable the Anti-Virus components of Webroot Anti-Virus you must go to two separate sections:
Anti-Virus Shield Disabling
1. Click on the Options button on the left hand side of Webroot Anti-Virus
2. Go to the Shields tab of the Options Menu
3. Under the section labeled Anti-Virus Protection, take the checkmark out of the Protect against Viruses box.
Anti-Virus Sweep Disabling
1. Click on the Options button on the left hand side of Webroot Anti-Virus
2. On the Sweep tab, put the dot into Custom Sweep (please note you can only disable Anti-Virus Sweeps by using the Custom Sweep option)
3. Under the section labeled Sweep Settings Summary, click the Change Settings link which is next to Custom Sweep Settings
4. A Custom Sweep box will appear with various sections to click on. Click on the What To Sweep button on the left side of this Custom Sweep box.
5. On this screen, take the checkmark out of Sweep for Viruses under the Viruses section.
6. Click the OK button at the bottom of this screen and you will be returned to the Sweep tab. (Again please note that you can only disable Anti-Virus Sweeps by using the Custom Sweep Option which will now be selected)

Webroot firewall pop ups keeps pop up non-stop how do i stop this? please help!

Have you tried a pop up blocker?

Here's one, and in my opinion it is g r e a t !

Pop up Blocker ** free**

www.panicware.com

Also some useful information below. Hope it helps.

SPEAKING WITH MY EXPERIENCE TRY SOMETHING ELSE.

FREE SPYWARE
Download Spybot Search & Destroy. Restart computer, then run Spybot to see what spyware comes up, AND DELET IT.

FYI---Virus Protection-- 2 programs of virus protection will conflict with each other and will actually cancel out the protection. SO just download one.

Running Spybot Search & Destroy with EITHER Avast or Avg (great Free virus protection programs ) will keep a computer in good working condition. FREE

HERE ARE SOME LINKS, THAT WOULD BE BETTER:
NEW *****Somthing new FROM MICROSOFT.*** 2009 ---Security Essentials
http://www.microsoft.com

Pop up Blocker ** free******

*****Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5.2 ****

FREE SPYWARE

****Avast ***FREE ANTI VIRUS PROGRAM

****AVG ****FREE SPYWARE PROGRAM

**Ccleaner*** FREE

***Malware**** FREE

$ *** KASPERSKY ***
http://www.kaspersky.com

There are alot of $ anti-virus and Internet security programs out there,

ie: Norton, McAfee, Panda, Bitdefender. If you would like to pay $ then get ***Kaspersky***-- 2010 , I feel that is the best for your money.

REMEMBER TO KEEP UP THE DAILY MAINTENANCE ON ALL OF YOUR COMPUTERS.!

Good Luck.
If you think this is good information, , please rate me.

I am running windows XP Pro ( i do not like Vista... even thou I may not have any choice at some point) but I have not had any conflicts or lockups between them.. There may be some other underlying issue with your system... For what it's worth...

Sweep stuck / unable to get Firefox to run

You should reboot into Safe Mode to run these tests. Restart your computer and tap F8 while its rebooting. From there, it is easy to do all the anti virus and other scans. You can also download Hijackthis from here with IE. http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php#hijackthis
A word of caution though: It will display all processes that your computer has, so you have to look over the list and see what doesn't belong like web browser helpers and other known spyware. Tips: Always use Firefox when possible, use your anti virus program once a week, try Sbybot Search and destroy. You can see what is running on your system by Ctrl+Alt+Delete. One of these should be stopped. You can also go to Start---->Run---->type " msconfig " and enter. Here you can stop or change programs that run at boot up. You can post any results on here if you need further assistance.
