The Official Canon solution is as follows:
1. Replace the 512 Meg memory dimm.
2. Perform and MN-CON clear. (*28*>Copier>Function>Clear>MN-CON)
3. Perform a HD Format and System Software load.
4. Reboot the imageRUNNER.
You may be able to use regular memory to replace the copiers memory.
To perform the MN-CONT clear, you need to enter service mode. This is done by hitting the "additional functions" key, then hitting the 2 and 8 keys together, then hitting "additional functions" once more. Then you need to go to Copier>Function>Clear and highlight "MN-CONT". Hit OK.
You would need a service tech with the proper tools to perform the hard drive format and the system software install.
You might be able to just do the first 2 steps.
This will probably clear all the settings back to the factory settings as well. Beware.
