Question about Bassett Mission Crib

1 Answer

I have a 1977 Bassett crib that is in excellent condition. Can you tell me if it is safe to use today. The spacing of the bars seem to be right but want to be sure. The model # is 5029-512.

Bassett crib model 5530-0621 purchased in 2007- how to convert to day bed? Currently have it set up as a crib

If you don't have the rails to convert, Bassett discontinued the crib in2008. You can convert it using a standard metal (bolted) frame found in mattress or furniture stores. I called customer service today and found this information. 7/15/2013

I have a bassett baby bed number 5015-1508 made in april 1989 I need the brackets that hold the springs up

All drop down cribs have been recalled and are NOT safe to use around children! A bed this old should be discarded and replaced with a new certified model.

Can you tell me if a Bassett Crib #5089 0512 was recalled; and if not, can you send me by email directions for crib assembly to pizzapz99@aol.com Thank you in advance.

Please review these recall press releases. It appears Bassett is recalling cribs with PLASTIC hardware.
Or Consumer Contact: For additional information, contact Bassettbaby at (800) 308-7485 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's website at www.bassettbaby.com

Cant put the crib togther

First you will need all of the original hardware that came with the crib for it to be safe. Then you might want to google it to make sure there were not any recalls on it ever, just to be safe again.
Then I beleive you will need 2 flat screwdrivers and an adjustable wrench or plyers. You will need to connect all four sides and the bars that go under the sides that release the side to go down. Then the parts that hold the mattress and then the mattress.

Anyone know where to find a basset crib instruction manual?

Don't pass along this crib! It is 23 years old. Even if it was never used, stored in a humidity controlled room for the past 23 years, it is still an OLD crib. Crib safety standards change on a regular basis, so you can be sure that your crib does not meet the newest standard. But since it was used, and has been stored since then - who knows the condition? The glue could be dried out, the wood slightly warped. All these things can create a potential death trap. And since the crib is the one place a parent should feel comfortable leaving their child alone for hours, you want to make sure it is the safest piece of child gear in the house. PLEASE do not pass this crib down, but get rid of it. Old cribs are not safe, regardless of how well it worked the first time around.

Basseett Cribs adjestable bars at bottom

I believe the parts need to be inside. I ended up getting a horrible product assembly description from bassett by going to their website and contacting customer service. The pictures are blurry and you feel like they are speaking a foriegn language, but I did get a slight amount of assistance from e-mailing them. Good luck!
