My screen is very dark and has little color

If you have a DLP tv, its lamp is about to die. Also make sure you clean the areas well while changing the lamp. Use an airduster from walmart or frys $4 to blow clean. Lets say you have a old CRT, then the tube are at their lifes end and can be rejuvinated or replaced. however see the economic side of these repairs and the tvs worth. If not satisfied please repost with the model number to get a more precise responce. Thanks if you voted.

Sounds like the optical block is going bad. when thos happens you usually see like a band of pink and a band of blue on the top and bottom. or splochy parts of the screen with the failing color. Sony has released a lot of info on this and you can do a google search to confirm. Ive found several examples of failures. This problem is not solvable economically.

Where can I purchse new lens/lamps at for my Mitsubishi vs 5047?

Is this a CRT (picture tube) or LCD, DLP projetion set. DLP and LCD are lamp driven CRT have three picture tubes (red green and blue). You can tell by looking at the back pof the set if you see the glow of white light than it's a LCD or DLP. Lamps can be purchased at "bluestar international" ($100-$400) (google it) and CRT's are not worth replacing (over $300 each_)

JVC HD-61Z786 Projection TV: Problem: There is a light/dim spot on the tv screen. Thinking it was the lamp, I replaced the lamp and the light/dim spot is still there. Any ideas on the problem?

There is either dust on the lens or there is a problem deep within the light engine. This is a some-what common problem with these sets. The light engine is very expensive; not economical to repair.

Orange projection lamp on. Picture is a bluish green, no true white.

If you are in warranty contact Lg electronics since they own Zenith. I was having similar difficulties and they are sending me a replacement tv even though I am out of warranty by 3 years.

Problem turning On

The lamp, ballast or dmd board can cause the same problem. Most commonly on these DLPs it is the lamp, but we have to use the process of elimination as well sometimes. Even as a samsung warranty center sometimes the flow charts don't help. The first thing I would do as a consumer is to vacuum around the ventilation holes behind set, these can cuase poor circulation and startup/shutduwn problems. Then with those type of lights flashing start by bidding for or buying the most inexpensive lamp you can get. Make sure exact replacement. Do not touch the glass on lamp when replacing. Then try the ballast which also has a part number on it and has only two screws when you have lamp removed from set. If still no luck, assume it is the dmd board and try pricing that baby. Not cheap! Then comes the decision. New set or repair this. This is what you can expect unfortunately. But I have the same set at home. Go figure.
