Replacing the evaporator and recharging with refrigerant would be the only long term repair . Very expensive . I would suggest replacing the refrig .

Back plastic wall of refrigerator is swelling. What should I do?

Unplug sooooooon to prevent damage to coils!!! Remove plastic wall. Melt ice totally with hair dryer. See defrost heater at bottom of coils. If good it will read 50 to 200 ohms. If bad it will read infinite ohms. If my guessing is right, it will read bad and will need changing, along with the small clip-on thermostat that sits at or above the top of your coils. Parts will cost you $50 to $100 on the Net, and you'll spend 2 hours max.

Why is my freezer leaking water into the refrigerator ?

Hey Trudy Guldin, thank you for your post!

Based off the information you have provided its sounds like there could be a potential issue within your solenoid, water valve, or water filter of your Frigidaire refrigerator. When was the last time you changed your filter? I would remove and make sure there is no damage visible on your filter. If so, you would need to replace the filter. If it is any one of the other underlying issues I would recommend having a technician come out to the home and properly repair your appliance. -Matt

Leaking Kenmore Refidgator

What is your model number? Sears Kenmore numbers look like this 321.2468102 I hear a lot of complaints from people that see water leaking into their refrigerator from seemingly nowhere. Water appears in different places and even inside or under a refrigerators that does not have a water or a ice dispenser! Frost free refrigerators defrost the ice that collects on the evaporator coil. Your refrigerator defrost on the average about every 8 hours so the water that accumulates during defrost has to go somewhere right? Yes the water is supposed to drain down a small drain line to a pan down near the compressor where warm air from the condenser fan will blow warm air over the water and evaporate the water again an put it back into the air inside your home, office or wherever your refrigerator is located. Over time that little drain tube gets slime, algae and a gooey white paste gunk that fills the drain line sides up stopping the waterflow downward to the condensate pan below refrigerator. If blocked by gunk or ice you will see trails of liquid leaking down the rear wall of fresh food compartment until it reaches the crisper drawers. Gunk is an accumulation of algae slime and just crud that appears from nowhere in a refrigerators defrost condensate drain line. How a refrigerator leaks is not always the same with every model as you may see frozen ice flowing down the rear wall of freezers on side by sides. Here is an example of a ET18PKXGTO Whirlpool refrigerator leaking water into a cup below the freezer compartment. Click here=> Whirlpool Leak Photo taken by TechnicianBrian. TechnicianBrian.com. And in this photo are several parts listed in photo group #1 were it is most likely running down the wall=> MagicChef CTB1921AR fresh food section. If you still have questions please ask and rate me if I was able to explain this well enough. Every refrigerator is made different so these are examples only. The key is to find if ice or just gunk has blocked you defrost drain. Unplug and then remove the rear panel in back of freezer. We need to see if the water is overflowing the condensate drain tray or if the blockage is in the turn the drain leads down back of your refrigerator. Much more on this page=> Leaking Refrigerators! If you run into any problems along the way of repair please let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

The "de" is flashing on my display. I know it

Try the reset procedure:--- Turn the fridge freezer off by the wall socket for 10 minutes. Then reconnect the power again and see.If that is not helping then ,DE is most likely indicating a defrost problem.. open the freezer and take a look at the back of the freezer wall - is there a bunch of frost on that back wall? If the ice is collected there then unplug the unit for 24 hours to manually defrost it or take a hair dryer and defrost all collected ice to defrost the ice quickly. There also could be a temperature problem due to a defrost failure, easy to check the freezer temperature to confirm.---------------- Thank you.

Only upper section of the freezer works, heavy ice-buildup.

Hi,

The symptoms you are describing are typically from a refrigerant (freon) leak. Unfortunately it will be as simple as adding new refrigerant as it will just leak out. The leak will need to be repaired. From my experience with this unit my best guess is that the evaporator coils would need replaced. An average repair cost for this type of repair would be around $400.00.

I hope this helps.

Freezer and Frig not cooling. Lights on and Ice dispenser works. Unplug refrig and plug it back in and all seems to work for awhile. This has happened several times in the last year.

I had a similar issue with my fridge and it turned out to be a fried circuit board caused by overheating. I was instructed by the repair guy to pull the fridge further away from the wall to avoid this and to keep the back of the fridge clean of dust.

Fortunately, the repair was covered under my home warranty and only cost $60.

My refrigerator runs but doesn't cool

If the fans are running and the unit is not cooling at all, there are three possibilities. First would be a bad compressor start relay/overload assembly. This would be the least costly situation to repair. The second and third conditions would be either a bad compressor or a leak or restriction in the sealed system. Both of these would be a more costly repair that you would have to decide depending on the age and condition of the product.

Pierced hole in smeg freezer is it fixable

The only repair for this is to replace the evaporator, this requires serious technical skill in
refrigeration,

Usually this type of repair costs more than you will want to spend, it is not
covered by any warranty I know of.

Most techs will not want to attempt a repair of this nature due to the near impossibility
of getting all the moisture out of the system, and the very real likelihood of a service call back.

In future Only use hot water to assist in defrosting, or let defrost naturally before putting back into service. Never use any device to pry or poke at the ice.
