My tv started acting very strangely, and I'm pretty sure it is about 3 years old now. When you turn it on, there is a red hue about 1/4 up the screen. Anything under the hue does not have red at all, but the picture above the hue is fine. If I wait 5-10 minutes and turn it on and off a few times it will fix itself and be fine until I am done using it. If I let it sit for a while and turn it back on, it will be messed up again. Any ideas?

One thing that comes to mind when you say high pitched sound is the HOT ( Horizontal Output Transistor). You may be able to find one at fry's electronics. They are pretty cheap. If you are handy and know something about electronics you may be able to replace it. I am not a TV tech, I have a background in electronics and like to play with them from time to time. Not sure this will help but good luck
The screen probably needs to be degaussed, which will require either a degausser or a technician. Try turning the television off, and then unplugging it from the wall outlet. Then replug after 30 seconds and turn it back on. Also, try plugging any cables from a cable or satellite box into another set of in-ports on the back. If the problem persists, the screen needs to be degaussed.
Can you explain more about what you mean by big then small? When the picture got small do you mean it shrunk down in size leaving a black screen around the perimeter? Or did it bow in from top bottom? If you van acurately describe what it was doing I may be able to point you into the right direction on diagnosing the problem.
You say didn't do anything, Like did you hear a squealing sound or did you see led lights on front of panel or just dead nothing? If dead and nothing then look for fuse blown in power supply if not then there maybe a small sound coming out of set when you press power if so then the power supply is trying to start up then you will have to look elsewhere like horizontal or convergence or vertical areas.
