Telephone turn-on Hello, I need to make the final phone connection from the qwest terminus to my house. I have an alternate phone carrier with no technicians, so Qwest connect it from the alley to the box, but I have to make the connection from the box to the house. What wires do I connect and to where?

Red and Green Wires. Often in the box there is a phone jack connection you can tie into without having to strip wires too.

Thank you for using fixya

There are two possible problems that cause this to happen

1. The phone received water damage
2. The operating system is crashing (like BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH for windows)

You can go to www.blackberry.com and download the latest OS firmware for your telephone and try to install it. Your telephone carrier should also have a link on their website to download the OS

Follow the installation steps.

I hope this information was helpful

This was bought at an estate sale and I'm trying to find out where to connect the ethernet cable to set her up on qwest home internet. Either I'm nuts or the ethernet cable included with the set up...

the two lines in the back, if they are too small for the ethernet cable, are telephone jacks for a phone modem. look and see if there is a "line in" and "line out" labeled, or a picture of a telephone next to one of the jacks- if so, then this is a phone modem card, and not an ethernet card. ethernet cards ONLY have one jack.

Two telephone mastersockets?

First things first.

You want to drag the phone line around for the Sky+ HD connection?

Unless you use Sky Box office or other Sky online services you don't need to hook a telephone cable up to ANY Sky set top boxes.
The telephone cable is a means for Sky to monitor your box position and monitor your viewing choices.

If however you do use Sky's online services you "can" connect another line to you main line. Just make sure you connect the correct coloured cables to the correct pins in your sockets.

Further note...

For a Sky+ connection you need to coaxial cables coming off your satelite dish. Incase you didn't already know this.

Got a new tranz 380. it won't stay connected .

Your shop has optical phone lines? lol I never heard of such a thing and I used to work for MCI worldcom.
All you need to do is call up Qwest or your local phone provider and have them put in a standard analogue phone or fax line.
Here it would run you about 20 bucks if you dont get it as a business line. maybe 50 if you tell them it is for a business.

Qwest - and my model is Vista

If QWEST is your ISP (Internet Service Provider), telephone them, and ask for Technical Support to connect your Vista computer to the Internet.

Telephone disconnected from first alert professional alarm system

The phone wires run from directly from the telephone company connection to the alarm on the red and green. They return on the other two wires. These wires are hooked to your home phones. That's the UL way to do it. The alarm is supposed to be the first device on the telephone line. You can just run a phone line to the alarm panel. There probably is a diagram inside the cabinet door or a phone jack very near the alarm.

The DSL router/modem will receive an address from your ISP (Qwest) and will assign an address to the connected PC.

There should be a cable that goes from your DSL modem to your PC. It'll either be a USB cable (flat rectangular plug on the PC end), or a RJ45 (looks like a wider telephone plug).

If there is neither connection between the DSL modem and your PC, then the PC can't "talk" to the DSL modem, so it's not getting an address from the DSL modem.
