I'm sorry, but I forgot to say that I speak about an external hard drive, connected to my pc with a usb cable. Now it's ok because I found and I fixed my problem. I did a mistake when I connected my hard drive, using the wrong power supply adaptor ?????? The right one's was connected to the cable modem. I change both power supply adaptors to appropriate items, and it's now working. Thanks you for your quickly answer !!! and sorry for my poor english !!!

Please check that the cables are connected properly with the hard disk to motherboad, and check the jumper setting.after that go to your bios setup by pressing del key and check whether hard disk is detected or not......

they are quite a lot of different formats that hard drives can be run in. Fat 32, NTFS has several formatsof its own. Then there are the Linux and UNIX and Apple formats. By rights many are supposed to be compatible but the some reason they don't always work together.Have you tried running the new hardware installation wizard?I will have a look and see if I can find any information on this problem as I find it to be quite common.Hope this helpsregards

Your hard drive is probably dead. However there are stillhopes for hard drive datarecovery.
Put the hard drive in a plastic bag to be compatible for the freezer. Freezingsometimes works to revive a dying hard drive, at least for a shorttime(Probable just about 20 minutes), but be sure that the bag is sealedtightly so that condensation and ice crystals don't form. Put it in yourfreezer for 24 hours that will do the trick. While it's still cold, plug itinto your computer. And you may be able to view it in 'my computer'. And youmay act quickly, because you may only have 20 minutes to recover your data offit and after that the hard drive is completely dead.
If it fails, you will have to go to a recovery office where supply datarecovery service but let's hope not because it will cost you a lot of money andwhether they can recover data is not guaranteed.
Here is a tutorial to guide you how torecover hard drive data.

It is worth a try. The circuit board of the SATA to USB interface inside the drive casing is definitely fried, but the drive itself could still be alive & usable.

The drive has just died. You might be able to salvage something from it if you take out the hard disk from it and you plug it inside a desktop - but don't expect too much, usually when they die they die for good and all the data is lost.

Take out the hard disk from your case and put it inside a desktop- if there's still some life left in it it will appear in My Computer. If it doesn't appears even there then it's dead for sure and all the data on it is lost.

Simpletech external simple drive model 96300-40001-001--flashing blue light

do you mean that you used this as a "Data" drive and do not have the data stored on your pc...

that is basically the same as having no backup... if it is important, store the data in more than one location.

it is possible that a power surge killed the usb adapter on your storage device.... you may be able to transplant the HDD onto a working adapter or USB->HDD bridge to get your data back

It could need a power adapter if it cannot draw enough from your usb port. I would try another port on the back of your PC.
