Question about Nikon D200, 10.2 Megapixel, SLR, Digital Camera Kit with AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Zoom

1 Answer

I cannot get my D200 to accept a memory card. It shows 'CHA' flashing and says memory card not acceptable. I tried to re format the CF card but no luck and tried another card but still the same fault, is there a way to reset menu or could this be another problem, it was working fine until I removed card to load pics onto my computer, then on re using the card it had this fault.

When you removed the card from the computer, did you remember to use the "safely remove hardware" function? You are formatting the card in the camera, right?

My nikon d300 will not format the SD card....

Hi, Dear
Nikon D300 does not use SD card! It use CF card.
But if you have format problem in camera then I recommend format from a computer using memory card reader. And then put the memory card into camera and try to format! Here it does not, then you should show to your local repair shop and it will cost between $120 to $265 usually. In minor problem case it will be replacement of memory card acceptance unit replacement. But the problem come from main pcb then the estimate will be totally different!

My nikon D200 shows CHA whenever I insert a CF card? How can I fix it? It shows that error even I use a different card.

Dear Sir e_jamandre, probably the connector memory card has one or more bent pins or cracked solder.
The worst thing would be that the memory compression circuit is damaged.
Greetings

Camera doesn't accept original CF memory and flashes ''Format''

I found and read the manual. Press the up and down buttons simultaneously, together with the shutter button for at least 2 seconds and the format mode kicks in ... soon after voila!

NIKON D100 LCD DISPLAY FLASHING CHA ERROR WITH ANY CF 1 GIG

I had the same problem and thought I had looked closely at the pins in CF slot but after finally taking it to a repair shop, the tech showed me a bent pin. It really wasn't that apparent first time around. He told me its a common problem as long as they use the CF cards. I had the pins replaced and my D100 is working great. Best of luck.

My D100 will not accept CF cards

You can always try the reset button. It is under the flap where the USB/Video out/ and power connector is. It is just above the power connector.

Can not format card for Nikon d200

Is you camera plugged into you computer. If so, you cannot format the card from the camera, unless it is unplugged. This just happened to me (I was about to look for a bent pin). Unplugging solved the problem.

Nikon D70, displaying error code 'CHA' when memory card inserted. Unable to format or use memory card. Have tried new memory card, still same problem.

CHA errors indicate a communication issue with the CF card. Your card could be going bad, you could have a broken pin, or any number of other problems.

I'm running into this same problem now. If anyone has a good step-by-step to troubleshoot which of the dozen things this error could be, I'd appreciate it.

For myself, I'm planning to start by trying a new CF card.

Flash card issues

The only solution I can think of is to format the card. This is the solution to just about every CF card error out there. If you don't want to lose the pictures, try capturing to computer first. If that doesn't work, it's simply corrupt data - you may be able to salvage it via data recovery software like BrotherSoft's Memory Card Recovery:
http://www.brothersoft.com/memory-card-recovery-50429.html

but ultimately, formatting is the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope this helps! Good luck. :)

Nikon D200 and microdrive

I assume by "microdrive" you mean the compact flash card - right? Not all compact flash cards will word with the D200 - what is the brand of each of the flash cards you have (and are they all the same-purchased at the same time)?
