What was your reason for replacement? They are good for the life of the grill and then few years to spare. I assume you are using infrared electric not gas.

They crack only and only if they were very hot and then something very cold was drop on them, if they were dropped or something was dropped on them.

To prevent that from happening in the future, I would suggest never place your food directly from fridge/freezer on your hot grill. Allow food to room temperature. Allow grill to heat evenly for at least 5 to 7min before cooking, never splash any liquid during cooking, use marinade sparingly. Never clean the plate while it is hot.

Your statement and question forced me actually to do bit of research as well on this grill... I find as well from one of my friends that they purchased they replacement from that store:

They said that plate was bit thinner but fit perfectly and work for them already two years, was as well half the price of the original including postage.

I own the TEC Patio II Grill. I am replacing the ignitor switch. Where do i attach the wire for this unit. It did not come with instructions. Thank you, ML

If you removed the old one, all you need to do, is match the connection of the wire(s) to the old Igniter Module. There should only be one or two wires.

If you have misplaced your Owner;s Manual, I have provided a it, that you can download & print for future reference.

I hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa. Happy Grilling!!

Has Patio II for Grills gone out of business? Need to replace our burner in ours. Any idea of where to get parts other than maybe ebay? Thank you so much

Assuming you are talking about the TEC Patio II grill. it is made by the Thermal Engineering Corporation of Columbia South Carolina the burners are sold as complete replacment parts as well as pieces of the burner sold seperately. It has a ceramic insert as part of the infrared burner. You may replace just that portion if that is all that is bad. if this has failed on your grill I would highly suggest spraying the four bolts that hold it in place (visible from the top of the grill with grates removed) with a penetrating oil several times over several days before attempting to remove them. Mine came out just fine and the grill is 12 years old. I love this grill even though there is a built in 12000 dollar grill on my patio.good luck

I have a Patio II and one of the ceramic heads is filthy and clogged. Can I soak and clean this baby rather than mortgage my home for a new one ? :~) Thanks...David

You can try to remove the parts, soak them in Simple Green, wire brush with a tooth brush or brass wire brush. Should work just fine.

The ignitor sparks but the pilot light doesn't light. Can this be fixed? (Tec Patio II Grill)

I have the same problem with my 12 year old Tech Patio II. Have you found a solution? I will call the manufacturer myself to see if they can help. They are most helpful.

I have a Patio 1. For the last couple of years,

It sounds like your ceramic elements are cracked and will have to be replaced. This can happen when cold juices drip directly onto the red hot ceramic elements. The cracks can sometimes be hard to see. The latest generation of TEC grills have done away with these ceramic elements.

Tec Grill Sterling Model won't stay lit

The dealer is right. The ceramic burner is cracked. It will need to be replaced -- pretty pricey. I have the same problem on my Sterling III. This DOES happen too often. My opinion is that this IS a manufacturing defect. I have called the company about it (they are in South Carolina) and they try to blame the user -- that would be us. Very unfortunate company chooses to act this way. You hear about this problem again and again and again -- it's their problem but sadly, they are making it ours. Remember that when you go grill shopping next time -- I know I won't buy a Sterling grill again. Ever.

Tec grill problem

If mositure gets into the ceramic burners, then yes it is time for new ones. Was your grill also converted over to accept the new gas? Or another thing it could be that spiders are clogging the burner orifice.. If you contact a local dealer on Tec gas grills or someone that can service gas grills. Might be able to help you.
