You could try a different USB port if you have one available but the real solution to your problem is to use a card reader instead of the camera.

Viewing images on computer as they are taken

The P100 is not designed for tethered shooting. You can connect it to a computer to transfer pictures after they're taken, and to charge the battery. You could use an Eye-Fi card to transfer pictures as soon as they're taken, but again that's after you've taken the picture.

Transfering film off DCR-HC53E sony mini dv handycam to my laptop I need to transfer a film off my handycam to my laptop, ive installed the disc that came with camcorder i have it all set up but i click on...

Did you follow the driver installation correctly? Some installs want the cable disconnected while the drivers are installed, others want the cable connected , while others want you to connect the cable during the driver install. you also may need a more recent driver for your operating system.

I want to transfer pictures from my laptop to the memory card in my Coolpix

You'll have to use a card reader. Despite the name, a card reader also lets you write to the card. Be aware that if the pictures were taken on a different type camera, or if you've done any editing on them, you probably won't be able to view them on the camera.

Canon EOS 1000D will not connect even with solution disc instaled

To find out if the computer recognizes the camera, go to start>computer and see if the camera is listed. If it is, you can double click the icon to open it. Double click on the folder(s) until you get to the pictures. Click on the first picture, scroll down to the last picture and while holding down the shift key click on the last picture. Now right click on the pictures and you will get a menu. In Vista you can select copy or move them to a folder. In XP you will have to select send to>documents then move them to a folder. As for the program you installed, if it didn't leave a short on your desktop, go to start>all programs and look for it. If it's not there, it probably didn't install correctly.

I no longer have the transfer disc but have new laptop I do not have the nikon transfer software that came with the camera. I want to take the pics I have taken off of my camera transfer over to laptop

Hi,
Connect the camera to your computer with the USB cable. Wait for the operating system to detect the camera.
Double click on Computer or My Computer. In the list of drives you should see "Removable Devices". Double click on that/them and copy the files to the computer.

If the computer does not see the card (removable device) then check that it's inserted properly in the camera and that the write protect switch is in the off position.

Failing that if you purchase a card reader you can take the camera card out and put it in the card reader and connect it directly to a USB port on the computer to transfer your flies.

Regards.

Did not get a disc with my dpix 5200 camera im unable to send pic

Prakticam, unhelpfully don't have anything for their cameras more than a couple of years old and don't seem to care if you mislay the disc you paid for.So be warned, don't buy Praktica. I have the 5200, you have firstly to put your usb in computer, switch on camera, switch camera to view pictures taken mode, and because it auto switches to take picture mode you then carefully attach camera end into camera whilst camera is still switched on! Then go to my computer and click on F: the pictures download. Then to save them click on first pic, hold shift key down and then click on last pic they should all highlight, right click and then hover 'send to' and send by left clicking to my documents. I remember that it took me 4 hours to work it out. Found this looking for manual to download, cannot change date now......

Downloading photos

If you are using Windows XP unplug your camera from your PC and uninstall the Kodak software. You don't need it to transfer photos to your PC. The next time you connect your camera (turn the camera on) to your computer it should recognize it and you can use Windows built in transfer software. Remove card from camera, put it in USB card reader attached to your computer and transfer files that way.

Transfering pictures from my memory card

Hi,
when you connect your camera to the PC.
look in My computer and find the drive ( camera ) probably shows as Drive F:/ G:/ H:/ I:/ or similar.
Right click and open, then copy to folder on desktop, named My-Pictures ( Or similar ) once you,ve copied your photos from memory card to desktop on PC. Format the memory-card. which will erase all data. ( Right Click Format )

This should solve your problem.
