Here's the deal with the cartridge alignment page....the machine will spit out a series of black lines mixed with yellow ink and at the beginning of each of these lines is a "Green" check mark. The carriage moves back and forth over these lines and green check marks and reads them by use of what is called a "spot sensor" that resides on the right side of the carriage assembly. This is usually noticed by the blue ray of light that shines out of it. So if you are getting an alignment failure one of two things is happening....1)You've have got a bad cartridge (usually the color) and it is not laying down the right colors, specifically the green check mark or 2)You've got a bad spot sensor...even though it may still be shining the blue light, the sensor board can't process the information. Its an easy fix either way.

I changed the ink cartrige,it keeps saying alignment cancelled and the copy button keeps flashing - when i open it up the ink cartrige wont slide back out it seems stuck.

The printer needs to be aligned and it wasn't done after changing the catridge so it does not want to continue. Have you tried pushing the flashing copy button to print another alignment page? Do you know how to align the printer?

After changing a cartridge the printer wants to print an alignment page to make sure that it prints correctly. Some printers have you print a page and they auto align themselves. Others cue you to print the alignment page which has a picture or other graphics that are in specific places and then it instructs you to insert the alignment page face down and press "ok". The printer scans the alignment page and configures the print heads to set up by the marks. It uses the alignment page as a map of where the print should be on the paper.

Try unplugging the printer from the power supply and wait about 30 seconds. Then plug it back in and turn it on. The display should say "print alignment page". Choose yes or confirm to continue. Your printer will either print the page and align itself, or print the page and tell you to insert it and continue. Either way follow the prompts and complete the alignment process in order to continue printing as normal.

If you are unable to get the printer to reset and start the alignment procedure over again, please advise and I will help you solve this problem.

Printing is blurred

Blurred is kind of a general statement. I'm thinking there are 3 possibilities.
1. Alignment
Run the printers Alignment routine. It's usually accessible through the control panel on the device. It may also be part of the software that is installed with the device.

2. Dirty head
Run the printers cleaning cycle. Its in the same place as the alignment rountines.

3. misfiring nozzles
Running the cleaning cycle several times might fix it, if not the printer may need to be serviced

My lexmark printer alignment is off and I can't fix it. Please help.

To align the cartridges:

  1. Press the Options button nine times until MAINTENANCE appears on the display.
  2. Then press the right arrow (+) twice; you should see the word Align.
  3. Press Select. The alignment page will be printed out automatically.
If this doesn't solve the problem please send me a comment Thank you.
