Have Kenmore microvave and the vent starts on its own

Actually, that's a feature! If you cook much on the range (stove) beneath the microwave, the heat will cause the microwave bottom to heat up quite a bit (just touch it!), and the microwave will turn on it's exhaust fan in an attempt to save itself from burning up. It will shut off in about 15 minutes after you turn off the source of heat.
But if the fan comes on by itself even when the microwave is cool (or at least not hot), then you probably have a defective fan thermostat. This thermostat is located behind the control console on the inside bottom of the microwave.

My GE Microwave JVM1850 will not heat unless I put the vent fan on.

That's really odd. I don't believe I've heard of that one before.

I would suspect the problem is on your control board, which in most can be repaired simply and inexpensively.

A YouTube video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes, is here.

First the motor cooling fan quit working and then it was running without the cooling fan working and everything shut off. It is as if it is unplugged.

The cooling fan protects the magnetron from overheating when it is running, the magnetron has probably been damaged and has shorted due to the excessive heat that they generate and blown the main fuse in the microwave to stop any further damage. The repairs for parts and labor will not be justified and replacement in the long run will be cheaper.

Our Microwave keeps running and won't stop. It is

The fan you hear is probably the magnetron cooling fan and that, and the light, are probably both controlled by the electronics board that controls everything else. You might inquire online at Maytag or the Sears parts department to determine the cost of a replacement board but I suspect it will either not be available at all or cost 3/4 of a new microwave.

KCMS145JBL-1 stopped heating. It overheated, shut down, then eventually lights and sensors came back on. Still doesn't heat.

It's likely the magnetron overheated, and when its thermostat tripped, all power was interrupted for safety until it cooled back down.

You likely have a failed magnetron, which is sometimes due to a failed internal cooling fan or clogged filter.

Your owner's manual will help you on locating and checking the filters. Grease filters can be cleaned, but charcoal filters cannot, they must be replaced.

When I say internal cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn on and off manually.

I'm instead talking about the internal fan which comes on automatically whenever you microwave.

It is vital that the cooling fan runs, or the turntable and stirrer won't work, and magnetron will soon be destroyed.

Sometimes the cooling fan will not run after the cooktop lamps have failed. A surge from the filaments shorting can cause damage to the control circuit board, resulting in odd operation from lights, fan, or turntable.

We regularly repair these control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

We have a sound clip here of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are working.

A loud buzz, hum, or groan is usually a shorted high voltage rectifier diode, but a sound like gurgling into an empty coffee mug is one symptom of a failed magnetron, and yet the mag can be bad without that sound.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use (in order given) for test help, but read the safety warnings first:

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html
(if it is NOT shorted or burned looking, it's probably fine)

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/mag_test.html
(continuity can be good even though mag is bad!)

GE Microwave Profile Spacemaker Runs on its own

Your microwave turning on by itself is a "self preservation feature" of the GE Profile Advantium and maybe some other models. Read the manual, When your over the range oven gets warm enough, for whatever reason the venting fan comes on until a satisfactory oven temperature is reached. You are not permitted to shut the vent fan off. Also it seems a temperature near room temp must be achieved before it shuts the fan motor off, it is very annoying. We had to return our Advantium because of fan noise. I configured the ovens vent fan to the recirculate direction because we do not have a vent duct that exits the house over our range. When the vent fan acting as the ovens cooling fan automatically turned on we would have to leave the house to hear each other talk. Too bad we really liked the oven other than that major problem. Over the range MV Oven shuts down from heat

it is triggering the overtemp switch. try to check the vent outlet, it could be clogged with dirt. or the cooling fan of the magnetron is no longer running. could be stuck up because of not being used for a long time.

GE jvm1190 above the range microwave /convection (2001 model)

It sounds just like the magnetron is bad, overheating and opening the thermostat. This is how it would work if that were the case.

One other thing is to be sure that the cooling fan is running and that you feel air flow.

You should check the air filter and grille, as well as the outside vent for any blockage.
