Either the software (operating system) is terribly corrupted or you have an issue with one of your peripherals. Disconnect everything except monitor, hard drive, and memory and attempt boot up. If it works then something that you disconnected is the culprit. If it is still not booting the operating system, if possible, needs to be repaired.

In a way you are lucky because this gives you a golden opportunity to dump Vista, the worst of the worst.

It keeps turning off on its own

I would do this: Start it in safe mode and perform a system restore back to the time it worked.
If this doesn't work, you'll have to boot from a system CD/DVD and do a Windows repair.
I think this is a software issue. But before you start reformatting your hard drive or something, open the computer up and disconnect everything but the CPU, memory, mouse, keyboard, and video. That will rule out the possibility of bad hardware.

I put in a new sound card and now my computer wont start up past the lenovo screen and i need to fix it so i can work

The first thing to do is remove the sound card to see if the computer works without it. If you are still having problems starting, then you'll have to look for a different reason the computer won't start. Quite possibly you disconnected something when you installed the card. Check for that.

My dell desktop 530s stopped working and now the fan only turns on and the power button is illuminated in yellow, not blue. Please how I can fix this problem. Thanks

This is the explanation according to the service manual.

This is a system fault error condition, including the power supply. Only the +5VSB rail on the power supply is working correctly.

  • Ensure all power cables are securely connected to the system board.
  • Ensure the main power cable and front panel cable are securely connected to the system board.
note.gif NOTE:
If the system was abnormally turned off, you need to disconnect and plug in the AC power cord. Then turn on the system. Otherwise, you may see an incorrect power light state.

You either have a bad power supply or something is shorting out your power supply. Disconnect all devices from your computer except the monitor, keyboard and mouse. Also check your USB ports to see if any are damaged.

I have a 2005 Hewlett Packard Pavilion m7480n (882780389410) PC Desktop i've tried numerous things on it to fix it but nothing seems to be working.. i disconnected everything one by one and then all at the...

Here is something to try that might fix you up.
Dry boot is a way to reset HP laptops. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. Here is how to do it.
Disconnect the power cord, remove the battery, press and hold the power button for about a minute. Then re-insert the battery and power cord and try to turn it back on again.
If you are still having the same issue, remove the battery but leave the power cord and try to turn it on. Oh yeah, disconnect any USB devices and a monitor (if you connected a monitor to your laptop), make sure there is no disc in the drive either.
If this answers your question, I'd appreciate 4 thumbs. I do this for fun and do not get paid.

Processor fans runs full blast and will not post or boot

OK--you will have to go by the process of elimination.
First, open the case and disconnect all drives (hard drive, CD, DVD).
Now try to boot. Without a drive, it should boot but it will give you an error that says something like "no boot device."
If this works, then reconnect the hard drive. Reconnect everything in turn until you find the bad part.
If it still doesn't boot, you may have a bad memory stick. If you have more than one memory stick, take one out and see if it works. If it does swap it out for the other one.
You could also disconnect any add-in cards in case one of them may have gone bad.
