a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

SOURCE: Suzuki SE4000SED generator with no output

There was a day and time when generators were simple. There were no capacitors, regulators to control/adjust power to magnet or ground fault outlets. Winding getting hot indicates short, however could be bad capacitors. Rectifiers and capacitors must be removed from circuit to test properly. Here is a simple test that I use to find fault area. I use a small power supply (16v AC 1 amp like doorbell transformer) into the 110v outlet of generator. This should energize the armature magnet and actually produce voltage at commutator with brushes pulled off. You can slowly pull the starter rope to move the armature into a different positon the voltage will vary. If the ac windings are shorted there will be very little or no magnet. There is a seperate 110 v circuit at the 220v outlet to test (there are two 110v windings that make up the 220v outlet, one is also used for the 110v outlet). There is another winding that products voltage for the regulator that powers the magnet thru the brushes but I think that circuit is porbably working because of the heat in the windings. You might even have 110v power at the 220v outlet. As our parents told us over and over, be careful when working with electricity. Enjoy

SOURCE: Generator only outputs 6Vac. The winding measure

the cap has to be disconnected on one side to get a true readingif you remove the cap from the system and check it again and find it out of range change it
the diodes should be checked also to make sure they are working ( the current should be going in one direction only on them) last check the recdifiers to see if they are all producing if one is out the voltage will be less

Floodlights run by a generator at a football pitch are blowing up the capacitors even when the lights and generator are off ?

Blowing up capacitors where in the lights? even when off??????
Not sure of this question can you be more specific please. if you mean the gen capacitor in the alternator, it is either overloaded, or you have a short causing it to run full mfd. Don't turn off the generator with the lights on, that will also blow them

Yamaha ef1000is was rained on, starts and runs after unplugging wire plug from generator, runs when replugged, but no electrical output

Sounds like the rectifier got fried. Moisture in these units is a dangerous thing. Even if you feel the unit sat long enough to dry ouit, it sometines will hold moisture in the electrical componants.

You MAY have blown the rotating diodes on the rotor.

This would require servicing.
