It took long time before because your harddrive has some bad indexing unit it is very common it just need some maintenance . You can upgrade or install fresh copy of windows without online. for that insert windows disk into cd/dvd rom then when you power up the computer press F1 or f2 or del or ALT +F2 key to enter in bios . Then go to boot menu and set first boot device as cd/dvd then save settings and exit. Then follow the procedure then choose r for enter in recovery console then type in prompt 'chkdsk /r" without "" then press enter then it fix and recover errors on harddrive then after that process restart it then again boot computer with windows disk this time choose R for repair previous windows if you want old windows back if you want to install new windows then select new windows installation format 1 drive then it install windows on it. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

  • If you want to update Microsoft security updates then you need to be online or download updates online from another computer then you can install that updates with it.

But if you want to install windows or upgrade windows then you need windows disk not need to be online just enter licence key when it ask in installation.

Seems to be a bad driver or damaged boot.
If the computer shuts down and restarts check CPU fan and blow dust out from heat sink, CPU may be overheating.
Otherwise, use the recovery disk to repair, or the installation CD and do the system repair. Or from repair disk, if your computer worked fine before, Restore To a Previous setting.

You may have to many processes operating at once. Your machine has some age on it , the specs are minimal at best. Try to disable as many running programs as you can. Download freeware CCLEANER at: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/. This program will clean the junk from your system. In the TOOLS section, STARTUP section, disable ALL unnessary startup programs. Open the Task Manager , what is using all your resourses? Is the CPU and Memory maxed out? Try another Media player. Here are so basic tips for XP speedup: http://www.wikihow.com/Speed-up-a-Windows-XP-Computer If you need a good Malware program use freeware MALWAREBYTES at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install, UNCHECK the TRIAL PRO version, you want the freeware version. Run a Full Scan, Delete all results, Reboot. You can find other freeware Media Players on FILEHIPPO or MAJORGEEKS.

Hi James,

Your best bet will be to visit the Asus website and click on the 'support' tab at the top of the screen. Select the link for 'drivers' and specify your motherboard model. It's possible that there will be a BIOS update for your Asus m/board.
If so, do a BIOS flash and check if your PC will then accept your new CPU. NB! Take care when flashing the BIOS. Make sure there are no power interruptions etc. while performing this procedure as this could corrupt your BIOS software and render your motherboard useless.

Feel free to message me should you need more details or further assistance.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

HP provided recovery disks. If you don't have them, you can get them from this site.

How to install windows xp in hp pavilion dv4-1125nr series???

You should install Windows XP that came with your computer with the recovery program that is built-in with an HP computer. The Windows that comes with your computer includes all the drivers and software needed specifically for an HP Laptop.

Here's a link to HP's website outlining all the ways to Recover your Laptop and reinstall your Windows XP Operating System back to factory default including how to create a set of your own Recovery Disks:

The largest pentium 4 processor on the market is the 3.4 ghz pentium 4 processor it comes in extreme edition but thats rather pricey. Your motherboard should be able to support it. Your computer will probably support up to 4 gigs of ram.

Upgrade from Pentium 3 to Pentium 4

what socket is the Pentium 3? Socket A. The sockets have to be compatible for example you can't upgrade a Dual Core for a Core 2 Duo because although the chipsets look the same the motherboard may not support the new instruction set. I had this problem recently as i wanted to upgrade my Intel Celeron D 3.02ghz to the Pentium Dual Core 1.8ghz and although the chips were identical and fitted perfectly in my mobo, the actual mobo i was using (foxconn) wouldnt work with it forcing me to buy an ASRock mobo and replace the entire system.
