Fisher paykel heater plate replacement

My bottom drawer has no power . There was a burning smell and I had to force open the bottom drawer. I removed the control board from the bottom panel and discovered that it was burnt black in the middle. Swopped top and bottom panels , still no power at bottom. Flood switch at the bottom back in the machine dry and looks good ie not burnt. I believe the problem then is the control board and possibly the heater plate as well for the bottom drawer. how do I remove and replace the heater plate?

The problem is the thermal fuse in the bottom drawer which shuts of the controller power. But the thermal fuse is part of the heater assembly. So you will have to replace the lot.

It is not an easy procedure to replace the heater assembly as the whole system is intervined with the pump and motor components.

You will have to disconnect all wiring and hoses from the base of the drawer once you have it out after removing the transparent plastic wiring cover.

Then you have to release the locking ring to remove the pump and motor assembly along with the heater plate.

Hope this helps. please rate the solution if ok otherwise drop a comment.

Why does the top drawer have no power?

You also need to repair the solder link (over-temperature fuse) in the heater plate (or replace the whole heater plate). The drawer control board gets its power via that link.

Dd603 bottom drawer locked shut, no displays with power on. How do I get the drawer open?

The thermal fuse that cuts of power to the drawer has been tripped. This means you will need to replace the heater assembly at the base of the drawer. It is not cheap - could set you back by $350-400 to replace.
To open the drawer you need to turn the mains power off and then simply pull the drawer out with a little force. The lid seal is jammed shut because the lid seal actuator motors are locked after the power failed. Do not shut the drawer back as this will damage the lid seal. You will have to call a technician to replace the heater assembly and restore power to the drawer. Hopefully the top drawer is working ok.

DD603 model & top drawer totally dead, no lights but bottom drawer 100% Your thoughts plse.

possible causes
  • top drawer controller has lost power - replace power filter plate located at the base of dishwasher under bottom drawer controller
  • itself is faulty if you are getting some lights on the panel
  • thermal relay has tripped. It is located inside the heater element at the base of the drawer. The whole heater needs to be replaced.
Make sure the dishwasher is disconnected from the mains power supply when working on it

Hi, I have a Fisher & paykel DD603. A really bad smell has developed which appears to come from under the top panel encasing the dishwasher. How do I remove this panel to locate the source of this...

HI- If you mean the front panel they are removed by taking out the plastic retainers that are on each side of the drawer near the front and bottom of the drawer. They are round and about 1/2" in diameter and have a raised straight portion in the middle, they sit flush with the plastic sides. Use needle nose pliers and pull hard. Once both are out grab the bottom of the front panel and pull down, the panel should "slide" off. Be sure to have the power off to the unit (unplugged) because if there is an electrical short that is casing the short all the wires will be exposed and could give you a shock if they are melted. The controller will be in the upper right hand portion of the drawer front. Smell there. I've see them short out and be black and crispy. Good luck. Getting the panel back on is difficult but be patient and don't force it.

Top drawer no power

This looks like an old question, but for the sake of refference I will respond to it..

On your dd603, the heater plate in the bottom of the drawer acts as a dropping resistor in the power supply circuit. The main computer is often replaced incorrectly when the the machine is "dead". The correct procedure is to check the heater plate first and there are several resistance tests that are done at the connector for the heater plate. Usually the overload on the plate itself is blown out. This will cause a dead machine.
Some of the other experts object when we say "You should get a service manual" but that advice is warranted here.
