Question about Insignia Kix MP3 Player
Unable to play any music with this device is stuck on "Making Playist", does not respond to being powered off.
But I am able to access the files via USB.
When you copy music files from your PC to the Kix and the transfer is complete, do not immediately unplug the Kix from your USB. Instead, leave the Kix plugged in the USB on your puter for at least 10-15 minutes. The Kix will display "OK to disconnect," but just leave it plugged in for a good amount of time AFTER you copy all the files you want. I have found leaving the Kix plugged in for several minutes allows the play list to be created and not get stuck.

Just called Insignia at 800.699.9218 and they had a fix. You will lose all data on the player when you do this, so transfer what you need off of the player first.
Basically, you just Format the player. Put the player in your computer, find the icon for it, right-click, select Format. Do a full (not quick) Format. Pull it out, see it it gets past the frozen screen.
This seems to have worked for me; have only tested briefly but seems OK.
