There was an enormous block of ice which had formed behind the back partition on the left hand side of the freezer. Took the partition off last night and it has thawed. (But the hole where water drains out at bottom of freezer is still frozen.) Why did this happen? How can I stop this happening again as everything gets so clogged up with the block of ice I couldn't get the baskets out. It is an integrated fridge freezer, and have noticed that the ventilation grills at the front are covered over with the front of the kitchen unit. Would this be the reason?
First thing to check is that the fan in the rear of the freezer area is running folowing that u wouldhave to do continuity test on defrsot t-stat and defrost heater if both of these are good then u would have to check the defrost timer hope this helps usually its the t-stat small round disc like hooked on right or left hand side of evaporator has two wires going to it hope this helps
