The vario motor may be at fault.
The motor switcher the spray from top to bottom.
It is part of the sump assy.

You can tell if it is working if you start the unit and when it is in the wash cycle you can hear the water spraying change from top to bottom every few minutes.

D/W has a full 1 yr warranty and most have a 5 yr part warranty on the sump.

Check your owners guide.

Our 8 yr old kenmore dishwasher model 665 isnt letting water come through to start wash?

one of two things could be your problen. 1 Check where the water enters into the dishwater, It is more than likely a blue plastic water valve. This valve has a small screen in it right after the end of the water line connection to prevent pieces of debris entering this valve. If you remove the water line look inside the valve, If there is debris in the valve remove it and your good to go if not then the valve itself has given up the ghost and needs to be replaced. Simple to replace this valve just make sure both the water and electric has been disconnected before any work is to be done. Water valves can be purchased at any appliance parts house just remember to take the model and serial numbers with you. Good Luck

I would suggest calling whirlpool to have a tech come out and look at it. Your appliance is still under warranty if it is under 1 yr old. It will cover parts and labor.

Dishes won't come clean

If you have dishes (typically cutting boards or really tall dishes) that block the dispenser door from opening, the water cannot wash out all the detergent during the wash cycle. Check to see that after loading the dishes, your detergent door has clearance.
