Use a scouring pad, or emory cloth. Do not use sand paper, or a wire brush. That will cause too deep of scratches, plus you may get sand in the motor components, or damage sealed coil wires, and ruin your motor.

I have a fein turbo III and I think it got some dust in the motor and now it wounds like it is going to blow up when I turn it on. Is there anything that I can do?

Best bet is try to access the motor and disassemble if possible. There will be fine fine dust in the fans causing eventual wear and bushings or bearings as well as the carbon brushes. To clean it properly all must be dismantled. Any fine dust on the armature should be cleaned with forced air or suction and a soft brush

I NOTICED SPARKS INSIDE THE UNIT WHERE THE HANDLE ATTACHES TO THE MOTOR....NOW IT IS NOT WORKING WHAT CAN THIS BE?

Hello,
DO NOT TRY TO TURN THE KIRBY ON ANYMORE BEFORE YOU GET THIS REPAIRED!!! Your Kirby needs carbon brushes and if you don't already need a new armature, the worn out brushes will destroy the armature that you have. Here is a guide that will help you get down to the carbon brushes to change them...

http://reviews.ebay.com/REPLACING-THE-POWER-SWITCH-ON-ANY-KIRBY-G-SERIES-VACUUM_W0QQugidZ10000000003752018

It is a guide to replace the power switch, but will give you the step-by-step to get down to the carbon brushes.

Hope this helps,
Marci

Rainbow E series

The belt looses it tensile strength (tightness) over time. But it's the part about funny sounds and shutting down that concerns me. If it smells like a tire fire then it's the belt if it smells like plastic and burned hair then the motor has a bad field or armature. Probably one of the carbon brushes got hung up and burned a segment in the armature.

Could the debris from plaster sanding cause my rainbow series D4C vacuum not to work? If so how is the best way to clean it?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The Rainbow D4C will still work but not @ the highest efficiency rating – the suction will be reduced because the sheetrock dust gets into the motor and the fan blade(s) Quan 3 and would need a professional cleaning 1st or 2nd. Replacement of the motor; if it is too serious and or too expensive. It’s a good vacuum back it is suggested that people use a good Shop Vac for the sheetrock dust removal. Feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or you can try to repair and change out the fans, clean out the carbon brush area and cleanup the armature. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Good armature maybe needs new brushes

You can replace the carbon brushes and most repair shops should have them. Also tho, the armature could be causing the problem, if you put in new brushs and it still arcs badly, then the armature is bad.

Burning Smell

Check the carbon motor brushes, there might be arcing on the armature. New brushes may help if the armature is ok.

Problem with E series rainbow, motor starts then slows down to a halt and smells.

From what you describe, you will probably have to replace the motor. But you could take it apart and see if it just needs carbon brushes.

Rainbow e-series not working

Pop off the clear plastic side pieces and the 4 screws are located underneath. I suggest checking the carbon brushes and armature, as these are the parts of the e series that are most generally in need of replacement.
