I have a copier/scanner/fax that will print from my computer but will not scan for copies or fax. It give the message "Scanner Failure. Power off and then on again". I've done this several times with no results. I still get the same message. How can I fix this?
If your sacnner still fails to function, uninstall everything for the Officejet through add/remove in control panel. (Power off printer before uninstalling).
Go to Hp's web site. http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/welcome.html#Support
Step 1. Click, Download drivers and software (and firmware).
Go to step 2. For product, type in Officejet k60xi .
Power on your printer. (Wait for printer to fully power on).
Click, Start Detection>> button.
Allow HP to scan your system & install the latest software.
Follow the on scren instructions. (When finished, restart your PC). Test your scanner by scanning something.
If your scanner still fails to scan, you may be missing basic HP files loaceted in windows system & windows system32 folders.
(These missing files were not installed during your install of windows). Not your fault.

Is there any error message displayed on the control panel of the printer just like one of the following:
Scanner failure, power off and on Scanner System Failure Scanner failed, cannot make copies or fax Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax Scanner failure, cycle power
You may want to try following these steps: 1. Check if the scanner light does turn on when you initiated the scanning process, if not you need to reset the product. 2. Try using your other electrical outlet because your AVR or Surge Extension may not be providing enough voltage for the printer. 3. Try using dirty cycle, meaning you need to directly cut the power of your printer by pulling of the power cord from the rear side of your printer and wait for about 30 seconds before inserting again and turn it on.
If all these steps do not improve your printer functionality, you may want to call the HP online help and ask for replacement.
scanner failure is a hardawre problem. try to copy again and check if the scanner light is on. once the scanner light is not working then try to return your printer in the store that you have purchased it.
I think your printer has been, for some time now, trying to tell you something and the scanner failure message is the last in a series of messages.
First, the copier and the printer and the scanner worked fine, "for years", Then, the copier stopped accepting scans, while printing from data sent by your computer. Then, you received a scanner failure message again, and will not accept data from your computer, and "won't print at all"
Your printer/scanner/copier/fax has needed service for some time after years of continuous service.
Evaluate now, based on its initial cost and the lesser cost of All In Ones whether you have already obtained sufficient service to amortize the cost over time, and you may conclude that service is eitherr cost effective or ineffective at this time.
