There are four things with these models
1st the filter
2nd the water valve
3rd the freezer door its self
4th a computer module
you have changed the filter now the next step is the water valve since it allows water to fill thje resivoir tubing and the ice maker

since your saying you have no water or ice id look at the water valve

and there is a control computer on these that has been known to cause trouble also
good luck

I know this is basics, but did you check that you have water entering from the house? And did you purge the air out of the water system of the refrigerator? If not you should.
One vital piece of information you didn't provide is whether your ice maker is producing ice or not. If it isn't then make sure you purge the air from you system.

Not making ice after changing filter.

Hi and welcome to FixYa I am Kelly.

A new filter can take several cycles of the ice maker to fill the filter up with water before. The average filter is around 30 oz and the average ice maker fill cycle is 3.2 oz. The new filter did not have any water in it. The water in the door has a resercoir so the air in the filter will still make the water work until you get air. Drain abour 3 tall glasses from the water in door. The ice maker should then work properly. The filter filters water for water in door (inside) and the ice maker so if you have water inside the door you should have ice UNLESS one of the inlet water valve solenoids has failed. Also make sure the Freezer door / light switch functions properly. The door switch is supposed to stop water and ice functions with the door open.

I would like to know if it starts making ice.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I am getting hardly any water through the door...I took the filter out, but this does not help. Also we only get one to two ice cubes whenever it decides to make ice.

Check the water inlet at the valve behind the refrigerator to make sure you are getting good water pressure. If not good pressure the problem will be with your supply. If the filter is in the unit and you have purged all the air from the system problem will be the water valve.

Some of the early models had a sphion ball at the dispenser water tube. When this design worked. it was supposed to sphion water back into the supply line after you stopped calling for water. It's recommended that after you replace the filter and or anytime the water lines are accessed, purge the system. Pull at least 1 gal of water from the dispenser to purge the air. Air in the lines will produce back pressure. This pressure not the same as the regulated line pressure, will continue to push water through to the dispenser and or icemaker. Depending on the model design of the unit, the ice maker may be tricky to purge. Ther are several styles, with the ice bin in the door as trickyest.

Have an LG american type fridge freezer and need to change the water filter for the first time and don't know how to

Good day,
Grasp the filter firmly and turn it counter-clockwise until it releases.
Some water will spill so hold a small bowl under it.
Install the new one in reverse order. Pushed up turn clockwise until it seats.
It will take a while to purge the air out of the system, so be patient.

My icemaker is malfunctioning. I put a water filter in and purged the system but it is now leaking water from the icemaker. I found it iced up so I removed the ice and turned the icemaker off. What do I do...

run it a few more times to get the air out and to give it time to level out when you replace a water filter the pressure is increased and air will stay in the lines until it purges completly and settles down

Ice tastes bad from ice maker

Sometimes filters have issues like this even being new , it is located at the bottom kickplate [round] , pick up a new filter -part number 4396841 - install the filter , dump remaining ice in bin out , purge the water through the new filter through water in door for a few minutes and you should be good.
