1. This may be the ISP ( internet service provider) or you will need to check the drop or line to your house. Sometime moisture, rodents, or the elements have damaged the cable or DSL line to you premise that causes slow speeds and intermittent connectivity.
2. Contact you service provider and ask for a line check. This will require a cable/DSL tech to come to you house to check the line. There will be a charge if nothing is found.

How to speed up internet network

The speed of your internet is determined by your service provider and their modem. If possible, connect directly to the modem to check the speed. If you suspect you D-Link router is not allowing you to get full internet speed, first a Hard Reboot of you Router and Modem.
If that did not solve the issue, try a known working LAN 5e cable between your modem and router. After you have established it is not a cable issue, do a factory reset.
I had an issue where my speed to the internet modem was fine, but the router LAN connections only provide a faction of the internet speed. After testing cables, etc I did a factory reset and it restored full connection speed on my router LAN ports.

My internet is too slow.I'd like to get it fast

Have to have the company sweep the entire street
& clean up the cable --they will do that for free

Call them & complain, have to be home, so they can sweep
house as well

Next would be your computer

May need to reload Windows every 2 or 3 years

Then if like my cable company-- it still is not enjoyable
to use & is slow

Internet speed slowed down after install of win 8.1

The type of Internet connection you use in windows 8 is the most important factor in determining your connection speed. The three most common ways to connect to the Internet from home are dial-up, DSL, and cable. If you have a choice, cable is usually the fastest, but both DSL and cable are faster than dial-up.Check with your phone company or Internet provider for more information. Then if you check your speed from http://www.scanmyspeed.com you will definitely see the difference

My internet connection is too slow...i use usb modem(pldt weroam plus)how to make it fast?

Some of the tips to increase internet speed on your USB modem are,
* Place your computer at an elevated place, such as upstairs or near a window. Also, select an open space as your work area instead of an enclosed area bounded by walls. Walls block out the signal, which can cause the Internet speed to slow down.* Access the Internet at a hot spot where your network carrier offers the best network signals.* Connect a clip-on antenna to the USB modem. A number of signal booster antennas, which are designed for assisting USB modems in connecting to distant networks, are offered on the market.* Access the Internet during off peak hours
* Contact your Internet service provider and ask them if you can get a higher bandwidth for your USB modem. If so, inquire about the price. If it sounds reasonable, then you might want to consider it.
Check your internet speed from www.scanmyspeed.com after following these steps. you may find a difference.

Internet speed slows to a crawl making it impossible to access

Unless you have been infected with a virus, it is otherwise impossible to give you a definite answer.

Many problems associated with this, excluding viruses, are due to limitations imposed from your ISP due to excess usage, P2P blocking by your ISP, or other ISP problems.

Hardware causing this is very rare.

I recommend you scan your PC thoroughly before contacting your ISP to discuss the problems.

I have internet service through Clear (formerly Clearwire), and am troubleshooting a network problem. I have a problem with my internet connection slowing down to where some sites will not load in, and...

What I would suggest have two browser windows open, 1 is to the regular internet and the 2nd is to 192.168.15.1 which is the clear modem, The username is admin and the password is motorola. Once you are in, make the window the size of the icon in the middle of the screen, this will allow you to watch what the modem is really doing when you are accessing the internet in the other window.. If you see an X over the picture of the world and you still have bars on the right then definately contact them and let them know because it shouldnt do that. I know this as I have the same service here in Philly and I am having issues with it, so I always keep a little window open with that picture so I can watch it.

Broadband

Sounds it is your modem. I had a similar issue with my old one. I had a westell 6100F and now have a 6100G that helped. My company had to replace about 150 of line about 1000 Ft away from my house. The cable was in a storm drain and it was getting wet and interupting my internat connection.
