Question about Iomega Prestige 15TB (34474) USB 20 Hard Drive
I have 1.5TB Prestige USB 2.0 Desktop Hard Drive. When I connect this hard drive to PC. It does get connect but its not showing as a drive in My Computer. I am telling you it is getting connect because when I right click on My Computer and go to Device Manager, It shows iomega hard drive. What should I do????. I did contact support in IOMEGA they first thought
its happening because of getting less POWER to it so they changed adapter but its the same...When I right click on My Computer and go to MANAGE and DISK MANAGEMENT, It shows me Unknown, Not INitialized and Unallocated space 3.86 GB.What should I do????.
Sorry to tell you but this appears as the hard disk inside your Iomega case has died . Last effort: take it out and plug it in directly in a desktop. In there open it in a testing program like
http://www.hdtune.com/ - the free version.
If you get some errors you will know for sure that the disk is good for the skip. If the disk is good then it was completely corrupted and must be formatted. To do this use
After that put it back in the case and it should work normally.

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers
To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.
Click the Hardware tab.
Click the Device Manager button.
Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click
Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers.
Plug in the removable USB storage device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.
Also it often pays to reinstall in another USB port.
IF your drive doesn't show up after doing all this, then if you can take it to another machine, now try to use it on this new machine, if it works and all is good, then you have some sort of problem on your PC, it may pay to reinstall everything again, However if it Still indicates that it isn't initialized, then it may indeed be faulty. You may have no alternative but to try and format again..
Now another way to see if all is OK or not, is to open up the case remove the HDD and get a USB to HDD "Dongle" then using this see if you can make your drive work, it may simply be the USB interface on the HDD unit itself. If so, then you can still use it via the Dongle, or back it up via the dongle. Then you could get a new case and USB interface, hopefully it will not come to that.

The above link goes to troubleshooting the drive when it seems to not get assigned a drive letter.
Also, it covers formatting the drive to work with windows.
I wish you luck on this.
