I cannot find your specific motherboard as you typed it. Is it perhaps a P5VD2-MX SE? If the DVD that came with your motherboard was not recognized, you can find drivers and support information at the following location:

http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=SQkGx1Z6auj7xRGe

If this is not an issue with your specific motherboard DVD, this is not likely related to your motherboard.

Try a new / different disk recognized by this recorder. Make sure you're using DVD+RW disks. Others will not be recognized.

Asus x53u e drive recognized but no working

So you click on the e drive icon and the drawer opens so you can put the dvd in, then you get a message that it is not recognized? The million dollar answer is: It sounds like the DvD is not recognized. Where did you get the dvd that you are trying to play? Did someone make it for you or is it a store purchased dvd?

Computers have problems sometimes with dvd's that someone else made. Maybe the computer is telling you that the DvD Format is not recognized.

Try downloading the VLC Player and see if you can use it to play the dvd.

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Download and install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It's a very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formats and media. It's totally FREE.

Dvd-rom sd-616E driver no longer recognized by

Reboot the computer and go into the BIOS, see if its recognized in there, if its not recognized then you'll need to turn the computer off and unseat and reseat the cable and the power connector to the dvd drive. Then turn on the computer again and go into the BIOS, if the dvd drive is still not recognzied then you'll need to replace the drive.

If the dvd drive is recognized in the BIOS and not in windows then you'll need to go into the system restore in windows and choose a date the last time the computer was working, it will restore your computer back to this date and reboot. At that point it should recognize your dvd drive. If it doesn't then your OS is corrupt and you'll need to wipe out the drive and restore your computer back to factory defaults.
