Question about General Electric AEE18DM Air Conditioner
Is this one of the big square shaped units? If it is, I think I can help. If it's in a wall, you'll have to take it out. Then remove the screws from the bottom on both sides. The cabinet SHOULD lift off. That's right..... LIFT off.
The chassis WILL NOT slide out from either end. I have one of these that is in a window. It still works. I saw your question and went and took a look at it, and this is how I think it comes out. If you still have the plastic vent grilles that go on the inside over the fan and evaporator, I'd be interested in buying them if you aren't going to keep them, as mine are in bad shape. The one that goes over the evaporator is an off white beige color and has three round vents that can be turned to direct air flow. The piece that goes in front of the fan is a dark brown color. Please let me know if this IS how to remove the chassis, as I may have to do it myself someday. I won't as long as the thing keeps working.
