Question about eMachines ET183103 (PTNB602002) PC Desktop

Emachines desktop with netgear wireless adpater

I purchased an emachines ET 1831 which doesn't come with a wireless card. I purchased a netgear wireless adapter (wn311B) and installed it. Upon restarting it, the emachines desktop gives me an error that the hardware wasn't installed. I've tried a couple of times and the the card is in the PCI slot. any ideas?

You need a driver for the card.
Download one here if wanted after reading on.. I will have the link below inwhich you can click onto for instant access

Emachines are the worst computer to have. They have more problems since they are manufactured so cheaply. My advice is to sell it and purchase a HP, Or a DELL.
When the power supply gets a spike it shorts out the Mother board instantly
Emachines do not beleive installing a fuse so that is why the mother board goes too

The only difference between the 2 models was the -03 had the 2.6 Hz CPU and the -07 had the 2.7 Hz CPU and a slight redesign of the case.

Graphics, HDD and RAM all the same on both models

If it's a desktop it may not have a wireless card installed on it. I would recommend going to the eMachines website and look up the model of your desktop to see the information on what was included in it. You may need to purchase a USB WiFi adapter to add wireless to the computer.

I have emachines model w 3619, need to run internet from my home wireless netgear router to the emachines for internet ser how and what do i huck up to. on my wireless router.

I would go and get an external USB wireless device. They are great for picking up wireless connections you can get them cheap at amazon.com under wireless USB. I'm assuming that your E machine does not have a wireless port installed. Also you can get a PCI wireless card as well. The link above will take you to what you will need to do this. John

Unable to get computer onto my wireless network eMachine EL1358-53 Desktop

Sounds like it can be One of Two problems, First You need a wireless Adapter, if You already have it and it doesn't work, then You may need to update Your drivers. Make sure that its the proper drivers and not the generic drivers. If doing this, You still have no signal, then Your PCI card/Ethernet card may need to be replaced, Good Luck.

Expansion slota

eMachines Support > ET1331 desktop computer > Product Views > Rear View,

http://support.gateway.com/emachines/desktop/2009/emachines/et/ET1831/ET1831rv.shtml

The metal covers that have the Plus sign ( + ) holes, are Expansion Slot Covers.

Insert a flat tipped screwdriver blade in the + sign hole.
Insert the screwdriver blade horizontally, in the + sign hole, on the right side. ( ---- , not vertical I )

Gently bring the back of the screwdriver down.
This will make the metal slot cover, bend the small metal tab that is holding it.

Go to the + sign hole on the Left side. Do the same on the Left side as the above.

Bring the back of the screwdriver up.

Keep working the metal expansion slot cover back, and forth, until the two small metal tabs that are holding it in, break.

Remove the metal expansion slot cover.

Before you begin, ensure that the expansion slot cover you wish to remove, lines up with the wireless adapter card.

Have any questions concerning this, post in a Comment.
