How can I trasfer my Lowrance GPS Waypoints from my GDM6 Lowrance program to my new 740s Garmin?

I had a similar problem with another garmin model.  Problem cropped up after some sync software for an mp3 player was installed in my PC.

To get the software to recognise my GPS I had to go into my PC's task manager. (ctrl alt del).  Click on the processes tab and look for a program called "wces.exe".  Ending that process would allow the PC to recognise the GPS.  Be careful, ending the wrong process can screw up your PC.

I know this solution is a longshot, please don't give a bad rating!  :)

1. Download MapSource software updater from Garmin. The version as of December 4, 2007 is 6.13.6, and the trick also works on Map Source version 6.13.5.
2. Unpack or extract the content of MapSource_6136.exe
   downloaded using WinRAR.
3. From the extracted files, run MAIN.msi.
4. Then, run Setup.exe. Note: The sequence to execute Main.msi and then Setup.exe is important to avoid “Previous MapSource not found!” error.
   
5. Garmin MapSource now installed.

1. Download the MapSource update file into a directory on your hard drive. (i.e., c:\garmin).
2. Change to the directory in which you downloaded the files, (i.e., c:\garmin), and run the executable file (.exe). Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update your MapSource installation.
