Question about Maytag Refrigerators

1 Answer

On 03/04/10, I communicated w/ rylee_smith regarding our Maytag Model No. ERSW22A Ser No. 075141DW refrigerator. Despite his recommendations & my complete cleaning in the back components of the refrig + complete defrosting w/ everything at a neighbors, the problem persists & is ruining our wooden floor. I've continued to chip ice out of the small indentation in the freezer floor & that seemed to be a temporary fix; however for the 1st time this past weekend, despite the indendation being empty of ice, the freezer had another pool of water below the left front of the refrigerator/freezer. My wife advises that now small thin black plastic pieces are beginning to show up rather frequently in the ice cubes of the automatic ice maker. Our wooden floor is getting ruined. Please help!

I think that you have a serious problem that should be addressed by

So, I have looked up their service and parts web page for you to take the next step.

I'm concerned that your wet floor problem and the black plastic pieces showing up int he ice cubes is also another problem which should be addressed by Maytag.

Your control board is bad. Unplug refrigerator and replace it, follow instructions on board to reprogram and you should be good. It's on the back outside of refrigerator under panel. Or, call a repairman to do it for 400.00 plus. Hope this helps,

Maytag Model ERSW22A side by side fridge periodically leaks water at the front of the fridge. Water appears to come from inside the freezer compartment. This only happens every few days, or once a day...

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wirearound the heater( black calrod heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now everythime the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over
