The "Ld" code indicates long drain error. The Machine/Motor Control detected that the water level does not change after the drain pump is turned on. Check to make sure that the drain hose is clear, not kinked, and installed no more than 96 inches (8 feet) high.

Check the operation of the drain pump if no issue is found with the drain hose. Select Drain and Spin Cycle then select No Spin by pressing the Spin Speed button. You should hear the drain pump when running. Check the resistance of the drain pump winding if it's running.

Unplug washer or disconnect power then remove the hex-head mounting screws from the rear of the console.

Lift the console off the cabinet and disconnect the user interface board cable connector at Machine/Motor Control connector P11.

Disconnect the pump wire harness from the Machine/Motor Control and measure the resistance between the drain pump wires. The normal drain pump winding resistance is 10.5 - 14 ohms.

Check the connection of the harness to the Machine/Motor Control if the drain pump resistance reads okay. Otherwise, check the condition of the wire harness and recheck the resistance of the drain pump directly at the pump terminals.

Turn off the water supply to the washer and disconnect the hot and cold water hoses from the rear of the washer then remove the end of the drain hose from the standpipe or laundry tub. Tape the washer lid closed and carefully lay the washer on its front panel with padding on the flKennmore Oasis washer; I just - 66a42fa.jpgect the surfaces.

opened the top, Pulled the grum out and found a sock plugging the pump outlet..! Now, how that sock got over the top of the drum in the first place ia bizzarrrrr..?

  • Stewart Aug 03, 2010

The sock was only part of my problem. Since the intake filter was really dirty. I cleaned it out and decided I best run the OHMS checks. Well the wiring to the pump reads good. but I don't know if the pump should be reading 22.6 OHMS? The pump hand spins but I'm not sure how to power test it without hooking up the water and all...?

Sorry for the delayed response due technical glitch that disabled the Add Comment link.

The normal maximum resistance of the drain pump winding is 14 ohms. Both the pump are rated 120 VAC. You can hook it up on a 120 VAC supply to see if it works.

looks like I'm shopping for a new pump... The hard part is getting the water out so The pump can be changed; pull the drum and bail it out by hand. (Not pulling the drum leaves about 6 gallons of water under drum...) The sad truth is, I also have a Whirlpool Cabrio installed out in my garage too. Making the woman carry laundry outside while I fix this one. Hey, she wouldn't let me rob the part...It's her fault !

Grab a bucket or any shallow container that's enough to catch the water then take the drain hose out from where it is installed. Drain the water into the container and you may now remove the drain pump. Lay a piece of towel under the drain pump when removing it to catch residual water.

  • Stewart Aug 04, 2010

My Kenmore Oasis will go through all the cycles until the final spin. After the rinse I can watch it drain just like usual and all the visible water is gone from the drum. It will continue to make noise like the pump is running then after a minute or so it will flash "ld" Is it possible the water is gone but the washer doesn't know it? Is there some sort of water level sensor?
There is a clear plastic tube that goes from near the bottom of the tub to the motor control panel.
Also, If we had tech tips for : TEST #6 Water Level and Pressure Transducer Calibration and TEST #7 Drain/Recirculation. This may actually work for me..!

Refer to the tech sheet for Tests #6 and #7 on page 12.

  • Stewart Aug 09, 2010

Well, I perofrmed the step for the pump test; both manual and automaic, before and after recalibration. the drain pump isn't running, recirc did... I took the pump out and bench ran it. Runs fine... I can blow air through the tube to the transducer fine... I have Sears sending me the "recalled" Interface Control Board too. Unless there is some way to test the transducer? Then my guess is the Machine Motor Control Board: W10112113A and I see there is an upgrade of:W10189966...

Since the pump runs when bench ran but not when connected to the machine/motor control, it shows that it is apparently good. It just seems that it is not getting power from the machine/motor control. This indicates that either the pump wire harness is broken/cut open or the machine/motor control is bad. You should check the wire harness connecting the drain pump and the machine/motor control and make sure it is intact and fully inserted to both. You can deduce then that the machine/motor control is bad if the pump wire harness is good.

The lid is locked on my kenmore oasis washer

Unplug the washer first. How to open the service lid. Latches are approx 4" in from corners in front (where the little crack is below the lid) insert a putty knife, pushing in on the latches and pull up as it gives. Hold onto the side you've released and pop the oter side and lift up.
Now you will be able to see the lid lock; center front from underneath. Use a 1/4" nutdriver and remove the latch.
Now as far as I know, pn:8563937 was replaced with: W10059230 Bought mine from
Install is simple; 3 screws (1/4") behind the back panel will allow you to access the plug. Just feed the old one out and the new one in.

a replacement part should be sought and installed, you can bypass the switch, but the switch is there for a reason if you bypass it the spin cycle will not stop when opening the lid and injury to children or others can happen so this is not recommended
