No not at all a deck can never power a subwoofer you need an amp the only speakers a deck will power is your fronts and rears aka mids and highs. you will need an amp to run a subwoofer. I hope I answered your question, if so please vote and leave high marks. Thank you very much

How to use the Sub out feature on a sony car radio

You'd connect it, via RCA cables, to the amplifier that's driving your subwoofer (or to a powered subwoofer system).

How do you switch the rear outputs to sub outputs

This is a link to Sony for your CDX-GT50W Operating Instructions. Reference page 9 for subwoofer volume selection / adjustment.

It looks like you don't switch the rear rca outputs to subwoofer mode. There is a different output for subs as shown in box #3 of the link below.

What do i need to install a subwoofer

Here's what you need:

1) An enclosure for the 8" subwoofer.
2) 8" subwoofer.
3) Amplifier to power the sub.
4) Amp wiring kit.

Your Sony has two sets of preamp outputs so make sure that your wiring kit includes a set of RCA's.

Poor sound

Sit low Bass @+3 / Mid@ 0 / Hi+10
Add SubWoofer with separate Amp and use low pass filter @78hz cuttoff.
It's a cheap unit -don't expect High Fidelity & a warm EQ<

Subwoofer in my car works only on tuner

I had the same problem. most radios have a power antenna wire and an amp turn on wire it sounds like your amps are being turned on by the power ant wire that loses power when you put a cd in try swapping the blue with blue and white wire this should solve it

No sub when listening to a cd

you're using the wrong remote output wire. You have it hooked to the power ANTenna wire (blue) which turns off when not using the tuner. You need to use the REM OUT wire (blue w/ white stripe).

NO SUB OUTPUT

The sub outputs are simply lowpass filtered preamp outputs for use with a subwoofer amplifier. They supply a lowpass filtered signal for a subamp or 'powered subwoofer" like a bazooka tube. Test your "basstube" for 12 volt input power and make sure the "sub" setting on the radio is turned up too.

Sony CDX-MP40 won't power up the amp.

Most in-dash stereos have a blue wire in the harness which is used as a "wake up" signal for external amps. Did you connect this? Does it have any voltage on it when the stereo is on?
