Question about Cuisinart BFP-10 7-Speed Blender

My cuisinart blender doesn't work. We've only used it about 4 times. It worked yesterday, and today it lights up but doesn't do anything. Not sure why

Pretty much that is what happened to me. I found that the motor has 2 "thermal cut-offs" (SEFUSE 113oC). If the motor heats up even a little, these babies kill your blender. They are thermal fuses. Once they blow, it is over until they are replaced. To fix this, the motor must be removed. The spline gismo on top of the blender unscrews with reversed threads. I suggest unsoldering the lead wires from the power supply board, and replacing when done. The cut-offs are inside the taped on white cloth insulation on the top of the field magnets near the brush assemblies on both sides. I replaced them (both were blown) with 2 of NTE8242 ($1.60 each, 240oC 15A). These are way too hot, but that is what I had on hand. I thought that the electronics were defective at first, and I replaced the entire board assembly with a small/cheap ceiling fan wall switch /speed controller from the hardware store (600W 5A) for $10. The root cause of all of this is that the motor fan is not working. The airflow is blocked by base. I put small extenders on the feet and now there is much more airflow. Only time will tell if this is an effective fix. It appears to me that the device my have started out "nice" when it was designed, but cheapened (probably by middle managers taking bonuses for "improving" the design) many times. The fuse is gone, the case is plastic, etc. It really makes me wonder how it got past UL approval.

I'm experiencing the same behavior but can't seem to remove the "spline gismo on top of the blender" I realize it's reverse threaded but trying to use my hand to hold the gizmo (british spelling) and using a flat head screwdriver on the rotor doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

Was able to fix mine by doing this. Note I did not have to remove the motor from the case. I was able to replace the fuses just by r;emoving the bottom. Also, in an attempt to improve airflow, I cut away the barrier in the middle of the base that was causing air to only enter the unit from the back. I hope this will keep things cooler.

How did you fix it without removing the motor? How did you get to the fuses?

In my model, they have put a couple of special 'no unscrew' headed screws in to keep people from removing the bottom. Planned obsolescence.

My Cuisinart blender start leaking after a few months of use.

Here is a list of things to check for:
1. Make sure the blender base (black plastic) is tight to the jar.
2. Make sure you have installed the rubber washer between the blender blade assembly and the jar.
3. Make sure your rubber washer is free from any crud that may have accumulated and dried on. You may have to soak the washer and gently scrub with a scrubber sponge. If it's really cruddy you may have to repeat as necessary.
4. Make sure you have not caught any water (or other liquid) when filling it between the base and the jar. When you pour out the contents it will appear as if it is leaking.

Cuisinart CBT-500 blender won't work

(0) unplug unit (1) Remove the bottom 4 screws, cover plate and motor shield ( 2) unhook the white motor wire from its binding clip ( 3) locate the plastic sleeve with the fuseable link (4) cut the sleeve and test for continuity between points on either side of link with ohmmeter (5) if no continuity, clip out fuseable link and and solder the white wire back together (6) cover with tape (7) rebind to other wires (8) replace bottom and check. This worked for me.

Lights blink, but Cuisinart Smartpower 7-speed wont turn.

The thermal fuse is blown. You can buy a replacement from RadioShack for $1.69 You have to remove the old one and solder in the new one. If youre "handy" its very easy. Take it to a repair shop, you pay about the same as a new one. Its too bad that most electronics made today are cheaper to throw away and buy a new one rather than fix them when they break.
