Hi give otacon a try first then if you find putting the batterys back in still gives you the problem then remove the case on the remote and clean behind all the contacts on the remote it sounds like its only the couple of buttons your having problem with so cleaning behind these should solve your problem. they usually get damp so give it good clean remove any dust and grease then you should find you have no problems

Hi when the batterys are out can you just check for me that you can change the channels using the telly itself not using remote use the buttons on the telly and see if this changes ok then get back to me.
Have you removed the case completely and cleaned all the pads behind the buttons and also clean where the pads touch the circuit board.
So clean behind the rubber pads then clean the circuit board where the pads touch the board. This can get damp and even greasy so give these both a good clean to make sure that the contacts are fine then this will rule out that being the problem.

If still after doing this your still having the problem then you might find the control needs replacing it could be due to it being dropped or banged. The original remote are expensive to replace but your best and cheapest option would be an all4one remote these can be brought for next to nothing.
The good thing about using these one4all remotes is that if you get any problem with other remotes like dvd or vcr or cable then you can use this remote and then you would not need to buy a remote for each unit.
Let me know how you get on ok

Also your problem could be that the pads on the back of the buttons are covered in metalic paint to make the contact on the board if this has worn away this could also cause your problem so when you clean the pads check the ones for damage that are not working. Also check the circuit board where the butons touch the board to make the contact check this is not coroded or greasy the pads and the board need to be perfectly dry and free from dust and grease.
I dont mean the battery contacts i mean behind the buttons their are pads that press onto the circuit board making a circuit these need to be checked for damage and grease or corrosion please get back to me once you have looked at this for me ok.

At power up, tv scrolls uncontrolably through channels, power light flickers

1. Take remote control far away from tv - 3rd or fourth room. Then switch on tv. If uncontrollable scrolling stops , then cause may be remote button (Ch+ or Ch-) has got dirt inside and its shorting.

2. If taking remote far away doesn't stop scrolling then (Ch+ or Ch-) button on front pannel has shorted. Take a cutter plier and care fully remove button from its circuit board. ( If you know desoldering, it is far better than cutting). If scrolling stops then you can operate channel change with remote.

Use plug-in power supply and leave on channel 1. Call XM (1-800-XM-RADIO) and ask them to "refresh" your radio. WAIT 1/2 hour, then check your channels. Make sure you have a decent signal too (can hear Channel 1 okay) before you call XM for the 'refresh signal' for your new radio.

AV input selection without a remote

I had the same problem. I hooked up the DVD player and then got into the set up. I used the add/erase feature to go through all of the channels. At channel 91, I saw the logo for the dvd player. I added that channel and now the dvd player works.

GE Digital Wireless Thermometer

(hold 3 sec to erase)
Clear................clears memory in Min/max display
Back of unit:
C/F....................Toggle between Celsius
or Fahrenheit temperature display
Scroll.................Remote Channel Scrolling ON/OFF

INSTALLING BATTERIES
IMPORTANT:Read the section SETTING UP THE THERMOMETER before installing the batteries for the first time.

1.Remove the rear cover of thermometer. Install 2 new AA batteries. Replace battery cover.
2.Loosen 4 screws on rear battery cover of the Remote Sensor and slide battery cover off.
3.Install 2 new AA batteries .
4.After batteries are installed, the remote sensor will begin transmitting and automatically register to the Thermometer
(within range) after several minutes. However, you can also press the small button in the battery compartment (labeled Tx) to register the Remote Sensor to the Thermometer immediately
5.Replace battery cover and tighten 4 battery screws. Make ure that the battery cover is fully on and tightened to assure a watertight seal.

SETTING UP THE THERMOMETER
The thermometer can monitor up to two different Remote Sensors on two separate channels. Add-on remote sensors can be purchased separately and are compatible with the GE Wireless Thermometer/Clock (model GE5805WS4) as well as this unit. When first installing, always insert batteries into the Thermometer first, then into the Remote Sensor.
The thermometer uses random security code technology-it will learn the random code of the first Remote Sensor it detects and log in as channel 1. Channel 2 will register in the same way. NOTE: Registered channels will be erased when the batteries of the Thermometer or Remote Sensor are removed. When replacing batteries for a Remote Sensor, remember to clear the corresponding channel of the Thermometer in this way:

1.Remove batteries from the remote sensor (step 2 of installing batterie)
2.Select the channel that you would like to clear by pressing the CH button on the Thermometer until this channel number is displayed.
3.Hold the CH button for 3 seconds to clear the channel
4.Follow steps 3-5

MOUNTING THE REMOTE SENSOR AND THERMOMETER
Remote Sensor is suitable for outdoor mounting (watertight) at a range up to 100 feet from the Thermometer. HOWEVER, HE UNIT SHOULD NOT BE MOUNTED IN A POSITiON WHERE IT WILL BE SUBMERSED IN WATER, OR EXPOSED TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT, OR NEAR OTHER SOURCES OF HEAT OR COLD (I won't bother typing the rest) except for:

LOW Battery icon for the sensor will show up on either the
ch 1 or ch 2 display depending on which sensor is losing battery power.

Battery life 6 months
Temp Range Therm 32 to 122 deg F
Remote Sensor -58 to 158 deg F *
*Alkaline batteries can freeze temporarily at temps below -4 deg F. In this condition, the Remote Sensor cannot accurately transmit temp info to the Thermometer. This limits the effective minimum temp fo the Remote Sensor to -4 deg F

Operational Range....>50ft(and up to 100ft)(less interferances)

RF Channel ....refresh to "---" if no signal received in 60 minutes

Turn tv on, and it scrolls through the channels

Had the same problem, channels would not stop scrolling.
It was as though someone had there finger on the channel up button.
Disconnected the sixth wire, starting with the black wire on the wiring harness for the front buttons, on/off, ch. up/down, vol. up/down, etc.
It works fine, no more unwanted channel surfing!!
