Question about Initial 5820 Portable DVD Player with Screen
I have a portable DVD player Initial DVD-5820 and the screen is out of synchrony, the image are distorted and moving from up to down.
Do you know how to fix this?
I thought the cable from the main unit to the screen was broken, but no, the cables are fine, I opened the screen case and there are several pots, I don't know if one of them can adjust the synchrony of the image.
Have you any idea on how to correct this problem?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I've had mine for four years now and I occasionally get the 'no disc' message. On mine, the problem seems to be with the sensor that checks if the cover is closed. It's a round cylinder white in color, about the diameter of a toothpick, located near the lower-left corner. Anyway, after opening the unit and tinkering with it a little bit, I found if I just tilt base of the DVD player a little bit as it is reading a disc I can get the player to work. Yes, it sounds hokey, but it works for me everytime I get the 'no disc' message.
On a related note, does anybody have a dead IDM-1731 they don't want? I would like to replace the LCD bezel on mine. If you have one, please send me an email, five_hole @ hotmail. Thanks!

Very lightly clean the laser lens ( looks like a very small eyepiece)
with 91% or better alcohol on a swab. Then very lightly dry it off.
Also..have you tried another DVD or CD in it?
Check for dust or debris in where the laser pickup is
